Lenovo's Android-powered O1 'OPhone' due next month

Good news, kids! It looks like Lenovo's O1 "OPhone" handset is finally ready to hit the shelves over on the Mainland sometime next month. Truth be told, the story arc of this Android-powered 3G (TD-SCDMA) handset has been quite the emotional roller coaster: Some were riveted by the sleek, sexy physical design of the thing, while others were repelled by its intensely KIRFish UI. China Mobile is obviously hoping for big things from the little guy -- and getting it into stores before Unicom gets the iPhone sorted can't hurt. Either way, it looks like someone's just taken a bite out of iOrgane's market share!

"....black handset, which displays applications in iPhone-like bubble squares on its 3.5-inch touchscreen."
Well............here it comes..................Just buy a superior smartphone - an iPhone.

IPHONE = NO MULTITASK = DOS = BIG JUNK.
NEXXXT.
You should try to crawl ot of your store sometimes.
Samsung OmniaHD, Toshiba TG01,HTC touch Pro2, (and very soon HTC Leo/Firestone),also Nokia N97 (albeit only after some tweakings, repartitioning, updates, and downloads of themes, apps, and programs), are all far superior and more flexible devices than the iPhone 3gs, (here in Europe we don't have the Pré so I dunno about that) .
I haven't tried this Lenovo, nor the HTC Hero, but probably those too will prove preferable to the iPhone.
I recognize that with the last model Apple (finally) managed to bring out an OK phone, and that because of the incomprehensible wierdiness of the american cell phone market, americans can have more incentives in getting an iPhone than we decadent europeans, still why do you think that european stores are full of unsold iPhones?
I gave it a try myself last year (a 3G) and gave it back after less than a week. Now I have got an N97 (for work) and my old trusty HTC touchHD for personal use and I'm waiting for the TC Hero I should get next week and I would never dream of getting another iPhone, there are just too many better phones to choose from.
"Crawl out of your STONE" I meant.
What's wrong with that asian guy's mouth? Tongue?
I second that--get an iphone instead.
That ugly guy with the tongue thing is pretty creepy. (not to detract from the story)
HA! Paul A Chapel got owwwwwwwned.
As for the American smart phone weirdiness, it's because the US population is JUST now getting into the smartphone hype like you guys over in Europe, and it just so happens that Apple introduced the overrated iPhone as it started to really get popular. Add a little hype to the mix, and this unfortunately good, brainwashing marketing, and you get the recipe for a retarded trend where people want to be like everyone else sporting an iPhone... You Europeans have it right with the smartphone world, and god damnit, Americans need to start getting it right too...
PS: I'm American, live in DC, and am mad jealous of the European/Asian smartphone market... BUT! IT'S finally starting to pick up and be less delayed!
Listen, before I owned a 3Gs, I had the TouchPro and the G1. WinMo 6.1 custom ROM on my TP and it was still laggy and the usability sucked even with TouchFlo. I thought the G1 would be a better answer to the iPhone and it was a disappointment. The OS is solid but it needs to be on better hardware, sadly that's not coming anytime soon. If all we see is HTC and Samsung for the hardware, it'll continue to suck.
For both WinMo and G1, the quality of apps are ways off. I have apps that duplicate all my WinMo apps and more. G1 has some decent ones like the barcode scanner and native Google apps I like. The OS is fugly and no amount of Rachel or Sense UI to clean up the nerd ugly in Android.
iPhone is not perfect. I need multitasking or apps running in parallel. I get some of that through jailbreaking but it's not the same. What I like is the usability and the amount of apps out there. Sure the camera sucks and I don't have MMS--well that sucks and there's no excuse. Regardless, it's by far the balance choice. Don't hate. It's all about what you want or willing to compromise. There's no perfect phone for everyone--that's why we still have clamshell dumbphones out there!
Also because some of these "clamshell dumbphones" can do more than the iPhone can. Try using your iPhone underwater.
