LG Chocolate Touch and Samsung Omnia 2 slated for August 23rd, according to supposed Best Buy leak
If this screen capture to be believed, August 23rd is gearing up to be one helluva day for phone lovers. According to this snapshot from Best Buy's computers, that's when LG's desirable BL40 Chocolate Touch will be making its way into the consumer world, alongside a red Xenon and a bevy of Samsung phones including Omnia 2, Rogue, and Solstice. No clue on what the Tour is doing up there dated for the 23rd, since it's already out on both Verizon and Sprint, but perhaps a major shipment is in the works. As for that M330 for September 8th? Yeah, we're not sure. Surrounding that tantalizing list from the top and bottom, respectively, are Samsung's eco-conscious Reclaim -- presumably listed for August 16th, although the date is obscured -- and a red and black "G2" from august 5th, which would undoubtedly be referring to T-Mobile's sophomore Android device, the myTouch 3G. Two weeks seem awfully close, but if this pans out, we certainly won't be arguing.

Any pricing on the Omnia yet?
Oh. Hell. Yes.
It seems highly unlikely to me that all these phones would be released on a Sunday of all days. If the picture is real maybe this is just the day BestBuy actually gets the phones in stock in time for their Sunday ad which would mean an earlier release for these phones. That is all just vague speculation though. I personally don't believe the picture is real.
The leak/picture is indeed real. That Excel file was released to us around the fourth. I'd actually sent in a lead offering the original to Engadget when it came out, but I guess interest in it has only recently piqued.
Although there still is no SKU information, a Sunday release would not be unheard of. Neither phone appeals to enough people to have a prominent spot in the weekly flier.
Personally, I don't think it is going to launch on, or around, the 23rd, but, this kind of information leads me to believe it won't be much later than Early-September at best.
Yeah, you're right, the picture is fake because it's impossible for a company like Best Buy to release all these on a Sunday. After, they only put circulars in every single Sunday paper across the country. They wouldn't want to launch them on their biggest weekly advertising day or anything!!!
So anyway, can't we get some damn photo confirmation for the Verizon Touch Pro2 already? Come you guys (and girls) on the inside.
Dont be so quick to be an ass or you'll end up making an ass of yourself.... hmm...
Anyways you should have really read my post. The world doesnt revolve around Best buy and it is highly unlikely that a company like Verizon would base their release dates on what a 3rd party company would prefer. Verizon is not going to release two of their main future phones on a sunday when there would be nobody around to cover it. As i said before if this does turn out to be true it is probably not the actual release date of the phones but when Best buy actually gets the phones in their stores. This would mean the phones would have probably been released by the carrier the previous week. And again this is just speculation so feel free to disagree but dont freak out about it.
Sacrifex, where are you getting these excel files? The weekly inventory report I get now doesn't have upcoming postpaid on it. It used to.
Obviously this isn't true seeing that it is now Aug 24, and what do we see??? No new omnia 2 or chocolate touch :(. Working at Best Buy I haven't heard anything but rumors about the Omnia 2. I can't wait till it comes in. I want it so bad but verizon needs to think smarter. All of their smart phones that are supposed to be the big hits, they want to wait. I say get them out there or you might loose all your customers to other smart phone companys. But I really hope the Omnia 2 comes out soon. Hurry up Verizon
just talked to a rep for verizon and she said don't look for this phone until x-mas to the first qtr of 2010!! they are waiting until windows mobile 6.5 is out and going to release the phones with that on it instead of 6.1 with the upgradability to 6.5. then they got to work the bugs out of it before they will put it out for sale. i hope she was wrong about the date (but not the 6.5 pre loaded thing!!) but she sounded pretty sure and like she knew what she was talking about. we'll see!!
