Nokia RX-51 tablet captured in the wild
Not long at all after that mysterious Nokia RX-51 passed through the FCC comes shots from Indonesian message board Kaskus of the tablet-like device in the wild. The blurred box shot and the label behind the battery clearly say RX-51 prototype, and the design is unmistakably similar to the rumored press photo for the Maemo 5-powered Rover from back in May. We can't help but notice the 5 megapixel Carl Zeiss lens and, more importantly, SIM card slot and an ear piece, which would be perfect for placing calls on, say, T-Mobile's network. Few more shots after the break, and hit up the read link for the gallery of photos.

I was planning on replacing my n800 with an iPod Touch 3G in September, but this makes the decision a lot harder.
The deal-breaker for me is the 3 row keyboard. I hate it when phones only 3 rows and leave the number keys to a Function key option. IDK, maybe im spoiled on my G1 5-row keyboard.
I think I post this image source in comment of the article about FCC aproval of Nokia RX 51 already
If this is the new RX-51, then slap me and call me susan cause if my eyes don't deceive me, the second picture shows the logo on the phone as a Nokia N-Series. Correct me if i am wrong and my eyes do deceive me cause they aren't what they used to be but I'm almost positive it says N-Series.
On second look comparing the draft drawing from the FCC Application and the actual product, all of the buttons on the outside of the phone and all of the casing features seem to match up perfectly.
Glad to see T-Mo get into the Tablet game and hopefully soon the Netbook game as well.
They've been the underdog and a little late to the 3G game, but they're catching up at a very furious rate.
I'm tempted to try one of these out myself if it can be priced right. I'm using a Netbook with Verizon right now but I think the network is a bit overcapacity right now since my speeds are well below what is advertised.
Nokia smartphone plus AWS? Yeah, go ahead and sign me up.
so it's internet tablet phone after all
nice!
I still dont get this device, its a data only MID with a cramped kboard, camera and tiny screen.
Whos it going to appeal to, previous Nokia MID owners are not going to be happy and without a phone function, its not going to appeal to common phone users, wheres the market?
@dansus,
This has phone capability. It has a simcard slot. IT has T-mobile 3g bands.
There's the market, wide open!!. It will also be probably sold unlocked. So even a bigger market!!
Just because its got a modem with a sim slot doesnt mean you can make calls, especially if they havent built in a phone dialler! Someone will build a dialler but thats a techy only thing.
For sure i will pick this from my local Nokia store unlocked when it hits the streets, why would you do it any other way.. ;)
Maybe it's the N97 mini? Reminds me alot of the "big one"!
Maybe you should give up the colorful pills you keep popping?
Maybe you should give up the colorful pills you keep popping?
This is a smartphone, Maemo-5 is the OS for it, and it does have phone capabilities, it has a dialer, it can SMS, it is a phone & an internet tablet all-in-one.
I just have one wish, if they decide to stick to the resistive touch screen, please NOKIA just make it AMOLED.
When this comes out on T-Mobile I know what I am getting. Sorry HTC TouchPro2 but Nokia has my heart again.
