Vertu Ascent Ti Neon screams 'I'm rich and I watch Saved By The Bell reruns'
Variants of existing Vertu models are a dime a dozen. Actually, come to think of it, they're the exact opposite of "a dime a dozen," but we digress -- the point is that we don't really get too worked up these days when Nokia's luxury brand decides to refinish one of its hilariously expensive models in another shade of ostrich hide. There are a few key differences with the new Ascent Ti Neon, though: one, they've actually reshaped it to better fit in a purse; two, they've changed out the leather bits for rubber; and three, it's neon, for goodness' sake. Despite the revised shape, the phone is exactly the same on the inside as any other Ascent Ti already on the market, which means euro 3G, a 3 megapixel cam, and 4GB of storage. It'll all go for the bargain basement price of £6,000 (about $9,900) when it hits in October.

Does anyone actually buy these? Aside from the mediocre specs, the aesthetics are always questionable.
Yes, very rich people buy these. It's the mobile phone equivalent to a rolex or rolls royce. Made of the best materials, and SUPER expensive. It's more a piece of one's outfit or lifestyle than a phone. I would gladly trade in my N82 for a regular Ascent TI. Heck, i'd trade in my phone for a Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte, it's just as nice. But I think these particular Vertu's are too tacky. But the rich will probably buy them anyway.
Why? I don't agree. Rolex's and rollsroyce are actually good. This doesn't even look nice. My old Moto Krzr I had before I got my iPhone looked nicer then this.
Being extremely rich is not the only facet of the target audience for Vertu phones. Most likely, they are also very old and don't have a great grasp of current technology. I seriously doubt these people even check email. The last time they did was probably in the 14kbps dial-up days.
These people don't use technology, they have servants who use technology.
Yeah.
