Fortune names RIM fastest growing company... in the world

It shouldn't come as too much of a surprise that RIM is doing pretty well even in the face of an economic downturn, but it looks like it's been doing really well -- at least according to Fortune, which has just named the Canadian company the fastest growing firm in the world. That's apparently based on a combination of profits, turnover, and investment return over three years which, in RIM's case, translates an 84% growth in profits in the past three years, a 77% growth in revenue, and a total return of 45%. It's also actually the first time RIM has made the list, although that's at least partly due to the fact that Fortune didn't include non-US firms last time around.

Only reason RIM is the fastest growing company is because they are multi-carrier. If Apple ever became multi-carrier, you would see them growing incredibly in the mobile marketplace. The iPhone 3GS is amazing!
your comment is like saying, "if my car was faster, i would have won the race." until your car gets faster, you lose.
apple is not multi-carrier. until it is, go RIM!
Its clearly evident you dont know much about corporate business. This is not about multi-carrier or even a single device...this is about revenue -related growth in a corporation. In this context its the "SPEED" of growth. ROIs and year-over year sales revenue and profits. RIM is a very well-oiled machine and targets a specific market...and whenever that includes B2B with industry-proven technology...you see the rapid growth that RIM is seeing. While RIM doesnt get much fanfare here..they are the darling of the corp world. Have an uncle who heads up one of Sherwin-William's IT dept. We were talking Winmo on the business side...ho-hum conversation, but spirited. As soon as we got to BB...he couldnt stop the glowing opinions and relief BBs have brought to his dept and how much easier his workload is. Just for the record on the subject of iphone, he said they gave it a once-over since it was a popular request... nope, nada...not even if you buy it, it won't be connecting to S-W's network. But back to my response, Apple could have the iphone on every US carrier, and it will not top Fortune's fastest growing next or any year as I see it... top 10? yes, maybe. As they were #6 in 2007...but top 3s are usually young companies experience rapid growth through innovation and acquisitions.
iroq d. mullet.............."apple is not multi-carrier."..............pete already said that.....thanks for the recap dumbass
whoa, whoa. yes, i repeated what he already stated, then again, i was responding to his comment.
what's with the hostility? you're an iBoy, perhaps?
How many networks or "carriers" does the iphone run on...
Or does Pete's world not include anything outside of the USA
congrats RIM
I've never owned an Apple product in my life. I do admire Jobs' innovation though. Thanks for asking ;)
Also.....can you people please elaborate what multicarrier means? I'm pretty sure apple is on more than one carrier....lol
It's really dumb for iBoys. Apple is indeed multi carrier. Why, are they not on rogers? They are on AT&T. Guess its more than one. If they decide not to go with any other, balls to them! Money comes when you make wise decisions in the field, not some cool (fool?) product in the research labs
I'm a little confused by some of these comments...I don't know whether they're bashing Apple, Blackberry or both. I like my Blackberry and as a Canadian, I'm proud of the company. Several of my friends have been hired by RIM recently, so I'm glad to see at least one Canadian company still thriving despite the recession.
BB is the corporate standard. they grow because they help other businesses grow. i use WinMo myself but i have two jobs, and everyone who is in a management position in both of those jobs totes a BB. congrats to RIM.
