Samsung Instinct HD pops up on Best Buy's website with 5 megapixel camera, TV out
As it turns out, Instinct HD really was the final name that Samsung decided for its Sprint-bound S50 / m850 Dash, at least as far as Best Buy is concerned. The "Weekly Ad Specials" listing confirms that the smartphone really does handle HD video, both recording and playback, with a 5 megapixel camera and a TV out connection for sharing. It's also got visual voicemail, WiFi, and corporate calendar (likely Exchange and Lotus Domino) support. No price listed, but whatever it is will be effective from today through September 26th, so using our great powers of logic and deduction, we're gonna predict it'll hit stores sometime within the next month -- bold assumption, we know. Don't let us down, Sammy.

Finally more info. I'm getting bored waiting for this phone to finally be in my hands. :) C'mon soon plz.....
This would be an impressive break if you would have reported it weeks ago when you got tips stating exactly what you just wrote...
To me this seems like a big step back from the unmitigated sexiness of the OmniaHD.
I was in doubt between it and the Nokia N97 and in the end choosed the N97 which now , after heavy decrappifyng, updatings, downloads of themes&apps&programs and multiple tweaks and fixes turned out to be the awesome piece of engineering which was not when it came out of the box.
The Omnia HD on the other handside was probably better than the N97 when it got out of its box, but those who bought it (and I know some) have been unable to better it in any way after the purchase and this is the rule with all Samsung headsets: don't expect any support after purchase.
I had an Omnia SHG900 last winter (and spring) and in 6 months It never got a single update and I can promise you that it definitely needed one.
I have also an old (and much beloved) HTC touchHD ( for work), and a new HTC Hero (mostly for fun) but even though I must agree that Samsung smartphones are often innovative, sexy and tempting, after my Omnia experience I'm gonna stay away from them for the forseeable future; and it will not be this InstinctHD to change my mind.
I don't see how a camera with a sensor size small enough for cellphones could actually record "HD" (what ever that means). Sounds like some up-conversion.
Although, since 720p or even 1080p are each very small resolutions, compared to the size of a 5 megapixel image, wouldn't that make any camera sporting anything larger than a 0.9 MP (1280 x 720) sensor capable of using the HD buzzword?
Actually, there are some cells taht can now... I believe the Wooo from Hitachi: http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/07/31/hitachis-720p-mobile-hi-vision-cam-wooo-now-shipping-in-japan/
But I'm guessing the HD Is a moniker for its ability to plug into an 'HDTV'... sort of like the WD TV 'HD'...
The Instinct HD is also called out in BB's table signage.
9-26 is just the next planogram date, which is why prices are effective until then.
After spending the last 15 months with the truly awful original Instinct, all I can say is... never again.
I'm curious, I'll admit it;but it really needs to be app friendly. And we all know how stingy Samsung is when it comes to opening up to third-party developers, but I'm optimistic that it'll be good.
