Video: Nokia 5230 touchscreen seen lagging the competition
Ok S60 5th edition fans, here you go: another touchscreen Nokia slate to admire before it could be leaked by Eldar Murtazin. The new 5230 brings a 3.2-inch touchscreen riding HSDPA data, A-GPS, 2 megapixel camera, microSD expansion, and Bluetooth 2.0 with the promise of 33-hours of music pumped over its 3.5-mm audio jack. It will launch in two flavors in Q4: a €149 model and €259 Comes with Music version. Backside pic and video demonstrating the importance of long pink finger nails for navigating its resistive touchscreen after the break.
Note to Nokia: you really should review your marketing videos more carefully unless the severe lag / unresponsiveness seen when scrolling at 36 seconds is a feature.

Maybe she/(he?) just wasn't pushing hard enough for the resistive screen to sense it?
You're right, she taps at the top of one sentence but she's dragging the one above it by the end, meaning she didn't apply enough pressure at the start of the drag.
Still, not smart to show in a demo video.
True, it happens all the time. You have to be rough on the 5800XM, but it takes the pain rather stoically.
and why does have such a tiny screen >_< seems bloody pointless to me..
0.3 inches smaller than the iPhone screen at about double the resolution is "tiny"? What do you want in your pocket, IMAX?
Smart phone for under $200, great deal, and other then the OS its not really lacking in features... if there is a NAM version for AT&T ill buy it!
At a cost of 10K INR in India, this is pitted directly to compete with Samsung Star. In that situation, this one is a complete winner! With the software support provided by S60v5, this one should easily pwn the Samsung Star.
Oh no it's another non-Apple phone it must be bad... Must you be critical of Nokia's every step? Try taking off your iPhone colored glasses for a second and get a life!
Please tell me how putting a real SMARTPHONE into the market WITH aGPS -- that I assume doesn't need a special $200 TomTom holder -- that will sell for under $200 is "lagging"?
wow. it looks EXACTLY the same as the 5800 just without a flash
Do you know anything about the mobile phone world Engadget or are you purely focused on the high end fancy phones?? The reason this phone is amazing is the price - its insanely cheap, an insanely cheap touchscreen phone = high sales. It might not be everyones cup of tea (not mine) but perhaps as professional bloggers you'd understand.
