Samsung Corby sounds like a stuffed animal, is actually a cheap touchphone
The rumored S3650 Corby from Samsung has just been made totally, 100 percent official -- and no, it's not the name of a puppy, a type of cheese, or an Australian exclamation. Instead, the Corby is a youth-oriented full touch handset that puts an emphasis on social networking (it's got integrated support for Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace, among others) and low cost over frivolities like 3G and a battery cover that won't burn your retinas. A reasonable sticker price is further assured thanks to the 2.8-inch QVGA display and a mere 2 megapixel cam, and considering the unlocked retail price of around €150 -- $215 or so -- they've more or less accomplished their goal. Look for it to hit in Europe later this month.

The fight with Nokia is stronger each day... This is against the new 5230 and the 5530.
That actually doesn't look half bad! :) If the camera was a little nicer, I think that the unlocked price is totally worth it!
they are definitely cute and the colorful casing could be a hit as well...it is interesting to see that Samsung had the guts to go colorful to catch the potential young clients, while Nokia is using that very boring colors for their potential young customers. I definitely like the Samsungs better then the 5230/5530...
The differenceis that Nokia provides constant firmware updates, new ROMs , fixes and accessories also for models that are a couple of years old and more, while Samsung , once it pocketed your cash , promptly forgets everything about you and the phone it shafted you with.
I had an Omnia 900 and never got any (badly needed) firmwares or updates, not even the possibility to download the newer touch wiz widgets, so I sold it and got myself the excellent HTC touchHD that , thancks to HTC's updates, is still doing an excellent job now 10 month after I bought it and it's still the bet win mob on the European market (we have never seen Toshiba's TG01).
About a month ago I was unsure if to buy the Nokia N97or the more flashy OmniaHD, but thinking about the experience with the first Omnia, I bought the N97 and I'm so glad I did.
Because if the N97 when it came out was plagued by more bugs and troubles than the OmniaHD, Nokia in one month produced 2 new ROMs for it and more than one over the air updates and fixes A DAY! The last one today.
While the Omnia which had a few less troubles (even if totally crippling for a smartphone) today it still has got all of them and those who bought it try to install nokia and hacked softwares to make the browser work just a little bit, or to take a decent picture or vid without a tripod and lots of noise (I knew that 8mpx were unneeded and far too many for a phone).
Moreover nearly all of the 1000s of free cool themes, apps and programs available in the 1000s of S60 dedicated sites have big troubles running along Samsung proprietary software (specially touch whiz).
So Nokia tansformed the cinderella N97 into a beautyful princess making its clamoring customers happy once again in a relatively short time; while the Omnia prince (which has never been very fair nor healty in the first place) it turned into a stinking toad, and Samsung (as usual) could'nt care less about its clamoring customers.
Samsung and LG make some of the coolest hardware on the planet, but until they will realize that modern smartphones , just like PCs, are in need of regular updates, upgrades, fixes etc, their business will be confined to the cheapo lower rung cell phones, no matter how cool they make them look like.
Thanx good HTC and Nokia have realized this sometimes ago and that's why beside my born again N97 have bought also an HTC Hero (which I got in exchange of the disappointing iPhone3GS) and i still use and can't mange to say goodbye to my HTC touchHD which is still the best Win mob telephone money can buy , still better (and far cooler) than the TP2, I know for sure because I have tried it.
those look pretty wild. fun colors, and ya u can drag and drop widgets around. but then thats about it and youre over those features in about a day. anyone considering this would be much smarter to get the 5230/5530.
