Xperia Pureness -- the phone formerly known as Kiki -- reared its head today, mostly in the form of press shots of stylish people who demand stylish handsets. Don't have any tech details yet, but we do know that it's a fine example of Sony Ericsson's new "brand direction," which -- as we heard yesterday -- can be summed up succinctly (and a bit nauseously) as "make.believe." Right. What we do know, however, is that it will be officially launched in November 2009 "through selected retail distribution channels in key cities around the world," that the company wants us to approach this as "a work of art rather than technology," and that the company hoped to "sculpt an object of design that reflected the purity of water and a sense of calmness when not in use." Just what we needed! We're sure Frank Lloyd Wright would approve -- you know, if only he hadn't died fifty years ago. See for yourself in the video after the break.
What's this puke? Where's the Satio/Idou ? SE wants us to consider it art ad not technology because it is'nt able to produce any decent technology anymore. Just look at the coming X2 is not even out yet and it's already yers behind HTC's Touch Pro2 ad Nokia N97 (after the new ROMS and the firmware fixes). In october the Nokia N900 and HTCs Leo will hit the market; so if SE does'nt manage to pull out a piece of magic like Nokia managed to do with its 2 new ROMs and 50+ firmware updates for the N97 in a month while at the same time presenting the N900, the fate of this once glorious company seems to be sealed. I start to fear that the Idou-Satio was just a tease to keep SE shareholders from lynching the management.
Please keep in mind that the majority of cellphone users aren't techno-geeks, and ppl are more style conscious than tech; why do you think the RAZR is still around?
Such shi***te. Seriously, amateurish flash and no innovation on ID is about what should be expected from S-E and they delivered. How about a decent phone sometime....seriously one that we want to buy.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
I can say only this: Sony Ericsson you are fantastic!!!

The RAZR is stylish? The world of fashion has moved on from the 2000s you know.
Thats pretty stylish, and different.
For a dumb phone, I like. If the walkman is as good or better than my 380a, I'll take one.

I dont get the see through screen idea! What if you are texting your "bit on the side" and the Missus is sitting opposite! BUSTED!
It all seems a bit gimmicky & gives them even less space to cram in all the tech, making the phone bulky-er.
Meh! they could do so much better!
Looks like it's running A2 - that's good news for kewl flash themes, tons of java support and some fantastic hacking opportunities.
