Novothink unveils first licensed solar chargers for iPhone, iPod

We've seen plenty of solar chargers in our day -- and we're somewhat fond of them as a concept. Novothink's just unveiled the first chargers for iPods and iPhones that's officially licensed by Apple. These attractive little guys have integrated solar panels on the back with LEDs to let you know the state of your charge. If the sun fails you, there's also a USB cable for standard, non eco-friendly charging. These chargers only work with the 2nd generation iPod touch -- which will be available this month, while versions for the iPhone 3G and 3GS will be outed in November. They'll run you $70. Looks good.
Does it have a battery in it, so it can store up juice by itself and then give it to the phone later?
I realize it's probably not iOpening to most readers when i say this, but the chance of these gadgets redeeming their own energy and material costs in this application is pretty small. Buying a solar charger for your iGadget is not an environmentally friendly step. There are perfectly good reasons to do so, but don't do it to be "green".
What about this?

I thought leaving the phone out in the sun would cause it to overheat and shut down.. (3GS) anyway... LOL
TYPO ALERT!!!
"These chargers only work with the 2nd generation iPod touch -- which will be available this month"
Don't you mean 3rd generation?
technically apple has not labeled the newest iPod touch as their 3rd generation if I am not mistaken...
So to charge in the sun (with the solar panel face up) you have to leave your phone lying out face down on the display (scuffs and dirt be damned)? I'd rather have a separate cable-connected unit.
