HTC Touch HD2 to be an Android set?
Fanboys the world over swooned over the HTC Touch HD when it launched last year, but word is that HTC's planning on making a major change to its high-res handset for the sequel: it's switching to Android. That's at least the hot whisper 'round the tubes this afternoon, and while that would ordinarily be enough to make the 'droidboys to go crazy, there's even more -- the CPU is reportedly a 628MHz Qualcomm chip, not the slightly overtaxed 528MHz number we've seen in every other Android handset to date. Sure, it's just a measly 100MHz, but if that's enough to make Sense and HD video on the 3.8-inch 480 x 800 display run smoothly we'll be all grins. If any of this is true, that is.

Now this is a phone worth waiting for. I hate learning about phones like this early, because now we have to wait till whenever it comes out. And that doesnt seem like it is going to be soon.
Don't wait for it: buy it now!
Even a used one.
I have had one of them for nearly an year and I warmely recomand it; the excellent TF3D interface managed the miracle of making Win Mobile practical and fun to use and the stylus totally redundant.
I own also a Nokia N97 and an HTC Hero (which I got in exchange of an iPhone 3gs which sorely disppointed me) , but the ThouchHD is still my favorite phone and now I know that it will not be pensioned until I can grab an HTC Leo , which BTW should be as early as next month.
I never had a cell phone for such a long time, but this thing it's really been a joy to use and it fulfilled every promise its producers made about it (a first in cell phone industry).
I tried also the newer TP2 but,( while still a great phone) it proved in most aspects far inferior to my year old TouchHD which is still , hands down, the best win mob phone money can buy (at least in countries such as mine where Toshiba's TG01 is not imported); and the situation is not likely to change until its heir , the mighty Leo, will be ready to take its throne.(or until Nokia's N900 will show what it can do)
Finally a screen size larger than the standard 3.2" that every other Android phone seemed to come with. Now maybe those of us who don't have the vision of a 20 yr. old can read their text & email. I love the Android OS but sold my G1 due to this issue. I'm a buyer if this comes to T-Mobile & they don't fool around with the hardware. If HTC really wants to compete then they need to step up & offer the best hardware possible. As it stands now the Android phone market is like the netbook market in that they all have the same freaking under powered hardware, which doesn't impress anyone.
Yeah, I think its a limitation of the current OS. A lot of the new phones coming out/announced have at least 2.5 inch screens, which to me, at least, mean its a higher rev of the Android OS. Donut maybe, or some other confection. I am really looking forward to the 3.8, and 4+ inch screens.
The question is - Will it hit the States? I was in love with the first version but it was no going to be released here...
So will it be more *kewl* than the HTC Hero??!
not if it doesnt have Sense UI on it... imo that's what makes me want the hero so badly.. but im actually considering an unlocked UK GSM version, because 1) im not sure about sprint, and 2) what the heck!? why did they change the looks of it!!?? the hero was sexy! remins me of the white zune when it came out... big design challenge to that generation's ipod...
