Palm Pre rumored to be dropping to $150 on September 8th

We've already seen the Palm Pre dip below its $199 list price during a few limited, occasionally inadvertent sales, but it looks like it could soon be dropping well under the $200 mark for a slightly longer period of time -- at least if a purportedly legit leaked document is to be believed. According to PreCentral, the doc comes from someone working at a Sprint "indirect partner retail dealer," and quite clearly indicates that "indirect partners" will be able to sell the Pre for $149.99 (after a mail-in rebate) between September 8th and October 31st, 2009. Presumably, Sprint itself would also be offering the Pre for the same price during that time and, if the HTC Hero's $179.99 price tag on Sprint is any indication, there seems to be at least a decent chance that the price drop could eventually become a permanent one. Either way, we won't have to wait too long to see how this one pans out.

actually the price via direct retail channels will remain at 199 after mir... but during sept 8th - oct 31st any numbers that port to sprint will be eligible for an additional discount of 100 bucks via a credit to the account making the final price 99.....
the 150 price is the promo for the indirect retail channels
Good, now they just have to get rid of that ridiculous Simply Everything Plan requirement and then, maybe, just maybe, they will really compete with the iPhone 3GS.
Huh? Sprint's SE Plan is significantly less expensive than AT&T's iPhone data plan requirement.
just get the Everything Data 450, $70 and get a ibm friends and family discount for 25% off each month!
You can get an AT&T line with 450 minutes, 1500 texts, and iPhone data for $85/mo. This is only $15 more than ED450 on Sprint.
I would gladly pay the extra $15 monthly to enjoy a phone that is built well and actually has a respectable library of apps... oh and games.
It's funny that the Pre was supposed to be "the iPhone, but better". Now it's really just "almost as good as the iPhone, sometimes. MULTITASKING!!!!1!ONE"
Why are people still comparing the Pre's app store to the Apple app store. Apple had a HUGE headstart with their app catalog. Palm is working its way there...give it some time.
Certainly App Catalog will grow in time, especially when they release the SDK to the general public. But that doesn't matter. RIGHT NOW the iPhone crushes the Pre in pretty much every regard, third-party apps in particular.
I got my Pre for .99 cent when it first came out.....with the 100 plan plus a $200 transfer credit.
my biggest gripe about the iphone is that EVERYBODY has one. I know literally about 50 people with them. that is more than I knew with RAZR's. also, nobody cares enough to take advantage of all the great apps out there. they just want to take pictures of themselves and apply cool filters to it and adjust the colors. That would be a great tool if 90% of the people on the planet had any taste and actually made their pics look great. instead they oversaturate and bump up the contrast and upload to facebook.
i don't want people to just "assume" i am one of them because I like clothing and also have an iphone. i'd rather have something more unique by a company that i really hope succeeds and want to support.
i love apple, but they have already succeeded. I want to support them so I will continue to buy their computers and ipods and software..
