T-Mobile UK and Orange to merge, still clash
Step aside O2 and Vodafone, there's a new sheriff in town. At least there will be if the announced 50:50 merger between T-Mobile UK and Orange can be signed into existence by November as planned. The new venture would give France Telecom and Deutsch Telekom units a 37% share of the UK mobile marketplace leaving O2 with 27% and the once mighty Vodafone with 25%. Let's hope that the corporate cultures mix better than orange and magenta.[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

They better retain the tmobile name... thats definitely a better business name. especially when stepping up their game like this its a great worldwide image. now its only left to t-mobile usa to get some investment cash from its parents in Germany and blanket the entire US with coverage and we've already seen what their capable of with their 3G expansion, they are covering all over the place.
Yeah, I wonder what the new company will be named. I hope that they'll stick with one or the other, preferrably T-Mobile, rather than doing a cumbersome hybrid name like T-Mobile/Orange. Best of luck to the companies if and when they merge because if it doesn't go smoothly, that 37% market share may not carry over.
god i hate vodafone. /venting
What planet are orange on, they are struggling to gain new customers because they're not competitive, the price of their handsets are way over what you pay on other networks, to get the same price you have to lock yourself into a 24 month contract whilst the rest lock you into a 18 month contract, and lets not talk about their criminal data charges. o2 £35 18 month contract unlimited data, orange you have to pay an extra £7.50 for 500mb unless of course you sign up for the 24 months then you get the 500mb free.
