AT&T gets with the program, offers unlimited calling to 'A-List' numbers
Remember how ECON 101 taught you that competition was good? 'Tis true! Long after Alltel introduced the idea of giving customers unlimited calling each month to a select list of numbers, AT&T is mimicking Verizon's Friends & Family and T-Mobile's myFaves offerings with its new "A-List with Rollover." Subscribers with individual Nation plans of $59.99 or higher can phone up their very own VIP cast without tapping into their monthly bucket of minutes, theoretically allowing that rollover pool that you never, ever use to grow even larger. For individuals, you'll be able to select up to five domestic phone numbers (mobile or landline) to call for free, while FamilyTalk customers with plans of $89.99 or more can select up to ten numbers. As with competing plans, AT&T users will be able to manage their A-List online and change them anytime, though new numbers do take 24 hours to register. The time to field bids on securing a coveted spot within your own A-Team is now, with the feature opening up to all on September 20th.

Sprint actually offer this too...
But you have to ask for it.
I have 5 numbers on mine
Wait WHAT? I'm on Sprint. I would love to have this feature. Who do I call and what do I say? Please do tell!!!
call up customer service and teel them you want to add the pick 3 or pick 5.
Why would I need a list of numbers to call for free if I'm already paying the $60 minimum for anytime minutes? I don't even come close to using my minutes, and as a result have thousands of roll over minutes.
Like me, if you have kids who want to use their phone before 7pm this is a great add. I have over 9,000 rollover minutes and despite this I still do not allow them on the cell before 7. Because if you give an inch, those rollover minutes will be gone in no time!
They're rollover minutes, they are as good as new. You know, not everyone gets to keep their unused minutes.
Sorry guys, Adam's always been crazy about antiques.
does the 59.99 minimum price point include data charges, or do you have to pay 59.99 just for calls to qualify?
It says it is for "Subscribers with individual Nation plans". Nation plans are voice plans (unrelated to data) so it would imply that you would need a $59.99 voice plan to qualify.
900+ minutes plan, and that is from their website.
@thrillho: from the AT&T alist website:

"If your individual plan is 900+ minutes ($59.99 or over) per month, or your FamilyTalk plan is 1400+ minutes ($89.99 or over) per month, you'll be ready to add your A-List on September 20!"
All of these favs/alist/whatever programs are leveraged such that the avg customer sees little to no benefit given the minimum plan requirement. My wife and I are on the familytalk 550 plan (the cheapest one) and it works great for us, especially with rollover minutes. I think only power users and families with kids who have phones really benefit from these programs.
All but two of my 'favorites' are numbers to other iPhones. They are already free. Not much help, but okay, thanks.
What's the deal with the other two proposed AT&T ideas? Skip the voice mail as a groundbreaking feature? Push warnings to avoid monthly overages? These don't warrant a big announcement, but again, I'll take them...
Mics, all you have to do is ask for it through ecare or C.S., if you go the 2nd route you may have to get Account Services
Saw this coming, I just had a feeling for a while.
good dealll
Couldn't you just add your Google Voice number to this and have unlimited free calling to any domestic number?
Yup, and as I plan to do...
