iTunes 9 breaks Pre media sync... what did you expect?
Here we go again: round umpteen of the fight to break and re-enable Pre syncing with iTunes is now underway thanks to the release of iTunes 9, and we're sure there's plenty more where this came from. Endlessly amusing to casual observers, yes, but Pre customers are the ones losing out -- sure, Palm might be able fix this in a jiffy (especially since they continue to tout compatibility with the Pixi), but meanwhile, media sync's out of the picture once more. Stay tuned for more on this as it develops.

That's why webOS v1.2 has not been released yet. They need to counter the sync before they leave Pre users lampooned. How about this Palm? Make your own f*cking media sync application. BlackBerry did it. Windows Mobile kind does it but won't sync AAC/AAC+. I REALLY don't care if Nokia does it or not, but Palm, come on already.
Nokia has done it already too, a good while back. Nokia Multimedia Transfer for Mac works beautifully for iTunes transfer of all files incl. video, except old DRM-protected iTunes purchases.
Except that Nokia uses the Apple published API to read the contents of the iTunes library.
Palm fudged the way the device identifies itself to iTunes by pretending that it is an iPod.
A bit of a difference!
this is not a good idea, I have already decided to stop purchasing my music from Itunes because of this. Amazon here i come!
I find it so funny how Apple is so worried about the Pre sync'n to their precious iTunes.. Notice that they havent cared about blackberries, WM or anyone other phone unitl now. HUMMMM.. verwy verwy interesting.
i think it is pretty obvious:
1) The Pre is the only one ADVERTISING support for iTunes
2) IMO, the Pre is the only real proprietary competitor to the iPhone. period. (that is, the only thing that comes close without being Android powered)
They don't care because the others use their API. Palm doesn't and instead pretends it is an iPod.
GET YOUR OWN BOX!
Maybe Palm should stop bitching and make their own desktop client like the old Palm desktop to transfer stuff between the Pre and the Client computer..
The sad irony of Apple users complaining that Palm has no right to connect their phones to iTunes is that their nemesis Microsoft had to deal with similar complaints when they used their OS monopoly to force users to use Internet Explorer.
iTunes owns a monopoly as a cross-platform media player and for Apple to limit syncing with only their hardware is treading in some murky legal water. We will see this debate worked out in court.
In my opinion Apple loses music purchase profits, forcing people who prefer iTunes to use another option (not buy an iPod or iPhone). I will just take my business to Amazon MP3 which is all DRM Free with most songs at $0.99 and iTunes+ usually higher at $1.29. Bye iTunes and Apple.
