CLIQs are pretty hard to come by in the wake of Motorola's big announcement today, but we flagged down an all-too-nice rep who showed off the phone's major talking points. Though it's got the same old Qualcomm MSM7201a beating in its chest that we've found in countless other Android and WinMo phones -- not anything thoroughly modern like Snapdragon -- we're feeling cautiously optimistic that MOTOBLUR is snappier in day-to-day use than HTC's competing
Sense. The built-in widgets Motorola is supplying look top-notch with a ton of spit and polish (seemingly without sacrificing speed or usability), so all told, we think Moto's been really cranking this year baking this platform to a golden crisp. Follow the break for the epic demo, and pay special attention to the white model when the rep pulls it out -- the back was supposed to be stylized Morse code that reads "I love Friday nights," but apparently they ran out of space, so it's now just random dots on a cover. At least it still looks cool, though, and that's the important thing.
Is it just me or does that interface look extremely slow (laggy)? Certainly not snappy or "baked to a golden crisp"
Seems I guess OK. The animations cover up the lagginess. BUT.. that chick just revealted someones phone number!
looking good, i might get this to replace my phone...
Wow... I'm actually pretty well impressed. I'm liking the way Blur works and the phone looks better than I had thought! Lets hope they can crank out some different versions and get them on the other carriers ;)
i think it's about time that Motorola came out with something that anyone looking for smaet phone and I have been disapointed in the past with Moto Q and other model along the same line of models. It looks good so far but Motorola is just catching up with the HTC's and Samsung etc. I loved the Palm Pre but took it back because of the battery life. Hope Palm will come out with a Pre and another model it sideways sliding keyboard in addition to the sliding upward keyboard. Good Luck Moto. I am looking forward to HTC Hero on Sprint.
...did she just say those r HER contact info...?
good video quality!
I was waiting for this to debut before making the final decision on the N900, but I think I'm going to have to pony up the cash for the big gun. I'll definitely give this one a look once it's in stores, but given that I don't use Twitter/Facebook/Myspace to keep track of people, it doesn't have too much on the G1 hardware wise, other than the good looks.
"Epic demo", "baked to a golden crisp"? I'm not impressed, at all. Unless the Motorola Sholes is a hell of a lot more appealing, I'd choose an HTC Android device without a doubt.
can this device multi-task?
of course it does, its android
Is it me or does her phone show AT&T as the carrier for that device.
It's just u... Both devices have T-Mobil on them...
look at the service indicator. The Sim appears to be for service with ATT.
Is it just me or do the widgets take up way too much space? The home screens on this thing look extremely cluttered. It also seems like the entire focus of Blur is social networking, which, while a cool idea, seems like it would lose its novelty really fast. Idk, I'm just not that overly impressed with Blur. I definitely don't think it should be compared to Sense.
I tried the HTC Hero on the counter, no doubt, the UI is nicely arranged with the necessary widgets. But frankly speaking, the ID is :((( the best I can describe is that it doesn't have the human touch & comfort ....
On the other hand, I am a true fans of Facebook and Twitter, so for sure I tried on HERO to see how truly connected it is on these social sites ... the answer is not quite as compared to what I am seeing in the demo for CLIQ! I have not seen anything like this in the market before, truly connected and integrated besides multitasking! I think Motorola has finally received a WAKE UP call and do something about their products!
Good job Motorola, I will be in the queue for this phone! Hurry up!
Epic fail on the AT&T service indicator, OMG I WANT THIS PHONE! I must leave att, they seem so behind everyone else but they get the best service where I live. *sad face*
Not bad.. Very solid device unlike the HTC Tattoo(love most specs on it, but the screen needs to be at least G1 size & quality)... And now we know why HTC changed the name from HTC Click to HTC Tattoo...
Hope this makes HTC rethink/upgrade there Tattoo's screen(make it capacitive & bigger, let G1 be u'r guide HTC) & a few other specs (camera)... Specially if the cost of the Moto Cliq is any where close to the one posted at T-Mobile this evening... Gotta love competition... But with the specs of the Moto Cliq... The Tattoo is dead in the water(if they leave it resistive & 240x320) when it gets to the US...
And you can see the demo lady with long nails running a capacitive screen like a pro... Frak resistive screen.. Frak them all to hell... That's WiMo tech & WiMo sucks... I don't want one of the worst mobile OS's hand-me-down's...
Don't get me wrong... I really like the look of the Tattoo... Really like the changeable body. But the tattoo's resistive & tiny resolution screen makes the Tattoo nothing but a dummy model... U know it's bad when ATT rejected the Lancaster w/keyboard cause of it...
Between the Moto Blur & the HTC Sence... There is no competition... I am Rosie's biatch!!!! HTC's Sence UI is king, queen & country to me... I haven't seen a Android UI that will change that anytime soon... I need my 7 screens...
If HTC does not upgrade the Tattoo specs by the the time of release in the US... I am hopping the Moto Cliq can be rooted & that some one fully ports or hybrids HTC Sence on to this phone...
What I don't like about the Tattoo is the design, the shape, the silhouette. I can live with the resistive touch screen but I just don't like carrying that wide rounded off htc touch thing. Im sure many people will agree with me on this. Best design: flat, rectangular and thin. Sort of like the Zune HD.
