Nokia 5800 XpressMusic bumped to firmware 31.2.008
Those drool-worthy changes in store for the N97's next firmware are nowhere to be found here, but 5800 XpressMusic owners are probably still well-advised to update to the latest release that's just hit most product codes around the globe -- including the NAM version in the States -- build 31.2.008. The two big changes here appear to be "several performance improvements" and the inclusion of Ovi Maps 3.0 with better pedestrian and in-car navigation, so if you mount up your phone as a GPS the second you set foot in your car, you've probably already started the update process before you even bothered finishing this article. It's okay, we understand.[Via Symbian-Guru]

It'd be nice to get Ovi Maps 3.0 working on my N96. And for Nokia to fix the reboot issue that still plagues my handset. I've done everything in the book and forums and still...issues. :(
i hope it installs more reliably than the new E71-2 NAM firmware update

Latest available software for Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, product code 0577454
Version: 21.2.025
Yeah, well, i have the NAM version and i'm still stuck in the stoneages as far as updates as lame Nokia doesn't offer much support in the United States for their phones.
yea, i'm having the same problem as well
why can't i update the firmware?
it says i have the latest.
but i don't...
Well,
I would update, but since I use Exchange, I don't want to risk screwing anything up, since I finally got the settings right (not the phone's fault).
I really want a better start screen and a browser similar to the digia@web (auto full screen), but without the crashes.
Other then that, I love this phone, the hardware, the crazy strong Wifi and 3.5 reception, and Joikuspot is amazing. Nothing like downloading 1.5Gigs of data in a few hours via Cell data (unlimited corporate plan)
The firmware updates won't change your previous settings or delete your data in any way. But as mentioned on Nokia support pages, it is recommended to do a full backup (using PC suite) before updating.
I had no problem updating to 30.0.011 (ironically the new update is not available for European models yet!)
Yeah I was really looking forward to this update to bring N97-style home screen to 5800 (those widgets and all that kind of stuff) , but sadly that's not the case! As for the web browser, try Opera Mini, you will never look back! :)
dude im still stuck on 21.2.025 too! wtf?!? grr!
Hi,
I'm in UK and i have the same problem. My phone is stuck with firmware 21.x.x.x. Anybody knows why it doesn't upgrade? When i try it says my firmware is the latest available.
Regards
Riccardo
Still stuck on v21 myself, getting very frustrating.
If you are on t-mobile add your voice here - http://support.t-mobile.co.uk/discussions/index?page=forums&topic=80103801a100d450123df7d1814007fa4 - not that anyone appears to be listening. I read a couple of days ago that the updates for the htc hero are being brought forward due to feedback put on this forum - it appears that its the uk network providers that are holdings this up (I know some O2 customers have got updates, so nokia have obviously released it to the UK).
i want to download latest firmware of nokia 5800
Stuck as well on v21, want to upgrade but can't.
You have to change your product code in order to update your firmware. Use JAF Emulator to do it...
I was stuck with v21 NAM. I changed the product code and got 31.2.008. It's like having a new phone. I previously found the phone to be full of features, but was slow and not responsive. I literally like this phone twice as much now. It's a pleasure to use.
If I could just get the letters on the keypad!!

If you have NAM, make sure to use a NAM product code.
HI Scott,
Which product code u used to get the updated firmware ?
I have 5800 as well. The phone is bought and also used in Republic of Macedonia. I have firmware version 31.0.008. Just update it OTA (Over The Air) and you won't have problems. Find a WiFi spot (or use GPRS or 3G), connect to the internet, dail *#0000# > Options > Update... That's it... Enjoy ;)
Original NAM Product Code
0577454
New NAM Product Code
0574994
Really great. Scott i used your code and it worked PERFECTLY.
You just made my day.
