AT&T launching 3G Microcell in some markets in the next few days?
Zacks Investment Research is reporting in a matter-of-fact tone that AT&T's long-rumored, long-desired 3G Microcell femtocell will be hitting some markets "in the next week." The full list of initial launch areas hasn't been disclosed, but Atlanta, San Antonio, Seattle and North Carolina are all specifically mentioned; as you might recall, Sprint restricted the launch of its Airave for some time, too, so limited availability out of the gate wouldn't really come as a surprise. AT&T had no comment when asked about the report, so it's a wait-and-see game -- but if you're clinging to one bar of service, have hope that help is on the way.

oooooh! Sign me up! I was just hoping there would be a way to give AT&T more money to not use their 'unlimited' services in a way I want. I wonder how much I get to pay to not Sling my TV to my iPhone.
Stay classy, AT&T
More people would get the Ron Burgundy reference by using the full, "'You' stay classy, ..." Or, a penchant for vulgarity, the mid-movie, "Go F*ck yourself, ..."
Thanks.
For the first time, though, I see a benefit here.
Nope, I was wrong...
so this off loads the data and phone calls completely when I’m using it from At&t's network and they still want me to pay for the device as well huh????? Are there also devices that just amplify the signal from At&t's cell tower to that I get a better signal in the basement? what is the cheapest of these that works?
Just what is this thing supposed to do? I "think" it let's me take the att 3g signal and broadcast it so I can use it like a WiFi? Something like the Sprint and Verizon MiFi2200? I just bought the Verizon MiFi because I can't get the att 3g. I agree with other comments. We pay already for a 3g connection that we don't get. Then add more and surely they'll restrict it to 5g as others are. I hate to pay Verizon for something att should be providing, but at least it isn't paying att - and the Verizon gives me a good 3g signal where att drops calls habitually with just EDGE. Appreciate someone saying just what this large att device is supposed to do?
It has to be the phone you have in order for the calls to be dropped;I travel from upstate NY to NYC and I rarely have dropped calls. Unlike Verizon customers in the same area that get NO service. Like you,I wish they had 3G EVERYWHERE,but with all these greedy companies,I guess that is asking too much. It's like asking the CEO to take a salary of $150,000/yr.(that is what they should be paid instead of these exorbitant sums for what,to enrich themselves at the expense of employees to appease stockholder? Give me a effing break!).
The 3G Microcell is available in Huntersville, NC. Just bought one at the ATT store.
