Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 to launch in France within two months?

According to the French (who we'd like to take this opportunity to thank for Histoire de Melody Nelson), the WinMo 6.5-packin' Xperia X2 (which we got our hot little hands on about two weeks ago) will be hitting store shelves in France "within two months" from now. The cited price, some €600 (about $880) doesn't take carrier subsidies into account, so we'll keep our eyes peeled for that bit of information. We're looking forward to seeing how that new OS handles itself outside of the realm of preproduction, although the resistive touchscreen nature of the device doesn't give us much hope. Salut!

Can Sony do any more to make poeple not care about thier smartphone lineup? Lets see, price it so that nobody can afford it. Dont release it in the US until it obsolete and dont release it with carrier backing. Brilliant!!!
Pass...still waiting for Rachel
Personally I think the resistive screen hangup is getting a bit weird now. The Jet has shown that it is no loser to capacitive so please get over it.
Dear Sony,
In this economy where people around the world are losing their jobs and where world-wide job losses could be 50 million by 2010 ( http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/15/business/15global.html?_r=1&hp ), you would think that pricing a phone to be more affordable would be on SE agenda. It is apparent that the executives in your company have not read the news lately or are the best brown-nosers in the company.
Get off of your high horse SE, because your phones are already obsolete before they hit the street. Your R&D takes way too long and the phones are over-hyped which leads to way too high of expectations when they are actually released. Then you decide to price them so high ( http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m38.l1313&_nkw=xperia&_sacat=See-All-Categories ) and expect the people who are just getting by to drop $800 bills on your POS?
Get fucking real!
That is the price unsubsidized....If you think that the price is ridiculous, you might want to let Nokia know that they need to get real as well. I agree that for a resistive touch screen device, with poor specs, little support, nill apps, LED flash, and really poor performance that the device is priced way to fuckin' high.
I feel the same rage you do though. I feel innovation has actually been quite stagnant in the cellular market if you exclude the iphone (even the iphone ain't that great....has a pure shit camera IMO. I have been dreaming of a device with 64gb storage, 12 MP xenon flash, capacitive touch, good UI, physical QWERTY, and amazing build quality for the past 5 years and nothing has even come close......shits fucking overpriced for these crappy devices!!!
This whole hating on Resistive Touch Screens is getting old. I have had enough of my own personal experience to know that they both have their good/bad points. However, the resistive screen is the all-around best screen to have, imho.
I'm at that point where if I see anyone hating on resistive screens, I question their judgment and their overall bias of products.
Capacitive is nice. But it's not the be all, end all.
Jouten........are you on drugs? I say you go into Electrical Engineering and get a true understanding for both technologies. Resistive is CRAP......and guess what....its time that the entire market should switch to capacitive.
http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/10496.html
And as I said 'imho'. MY opinion. MY preference for MY world (Alaska), the Resistive is better for ME. Maybe if I lived in Florida or some desert, I might consider the capacitive. But I don't so for ME, again, Resistive is better.
I don't need to spend four years of my life getting a degree in something to figure out the differences of either tech. Thank God for the internet and research right?

Hey Jouten,
Thanks so much for your comments. This whole resistive vs. capacitive argument is real, real tired already.

And JoutenWTF,
Strides in technologies continue to progress everyday. I'm not saying resistive technology is better than capacitive technology, but check out this Engadeget report:

Dont know where the resistive vs capacitve argument started from but for those saying resistive is as good as capacative I have one simple question. What are you smoking and can I have some?
Your link took me to a page where the *blogger* lists a Pro as "Old technology and hence more reliable!".........your "internet and research" is extremely credible. Also, in school, we don't spend 4 years learning the differences between two technologies; we develope them.

Your sarcasm is great! Even your spelling. But I digress. I am sick of people telling me what I 'want' or 'need'. I am pick what I like and enjoy it. End of story. I'm sure there are a lot more people who use resistive screens then capacitive ones and I don't see that number changing any time real soon.
Don't hate me cause I don't have a degree in engineering or because of my screen preferences. Just hate me.
Hmph! My 'going to' got dropped. But I figured I should post it since you two will just make it another case for selecting capacitive. I know, stupid, right? Right.
I wish this phone is prices around $499 so I could afford it. But I don't blame SE for over-pricing it because they seem to be targeting different customer base with their flagships. Customers who want to buy only expensive things. They don't care if it's crap. Just like people pay insane prices for watches, handbags, cars, etc. SE probably they can't compete in low-priced market with LG and Samsung.
If they release Xperia X2 within weeks of WinMo 6.5 release they might have done their best job in recent years in having product in market not too late.
SE should learn not to over-hype their products when they are in concept stages of design. Look at what they did with Xperia X1. Recently, W995a and now making people wait for Idou which they now call Satio. I think they will again change the name before release to make it feel new with customers. Satio will be released when people are already trying to forget what a terrible touch OS N97 and Nokia 5800 are. Everyone is already expecting S60v5 Release 2 or something which gets Kinetic Scrolling, etc and Satio comes with a version that Nokia released 6-months back. Satio will be an Epic fail for SE. WinMo atleast was a good OS to make phone calls in a convenient was as it has the best implementation of Smart Dialing, Call Logs, email unlike S60.
Did you just have an emotional breakdown?

Good info.
From experience, when it comes to electronic products 1 € usually translates into 1 $, whatever the exchange rate is.
