Sprint had told us in a statement that its BlackBerry Tours
only had trackball issues on "early production" units, and now Verizon is telling us pretty much the same thing:
Early on there was an issue with the trackball that affected a small percentage [of] the early production units -- far less than industry norms. The issue was detected early, addressed immediately and is no longer an issue. Returns on this device are some of the lowest among any of our smart phones.
In other words, it sounds like new buyers (and anyone who's taken the plunge recently) should be fine, and Verizon's actually taking it to another level by boasting that the handset's now one of its most return-proof smartphones. That doesn't change the fact that the trackball's
a little too recessed for our liking -- but at least it should stay functional.
I've always disliked trackballs, it's been one of the things keeping me away from android so far.
And by Android you mean Blackberry right?
Hmm, let me check. No by Android I meant Android. I know this is a blackberry post, but in my opinion it was mainly centered around a faulty trackball, which is an issue with other phones with trackballs that I have experienced (well, mostly issue on blackberries) which has kept me away from getting an android phone, because for one, i dislike trackballs and two, last I checked there are no released android phones that do not have one.
Androids are all touch screen, you don't need to use the trackball. It's there for people who like it.
I'm not a huge fan of the trackball on the Tour, but I have to say, even with that, the Tour is the best phone I've ever had. I am so glad I returned the Storm...
