Archos Android Phone Tablet introduced on video

We'd heard that Archos had teased an Android-based phone when it launched the new Archos 5 Internet Tablet, and now we have video proof. We don't speak French well enough to translate what's being said here (or, really, translate anything other than "le singe conduit l'autobus") but that spec sheet isn't too hard to figure out: we're looking at a 1GHz ARM Cortex processor under a 4.3-inch 854 x 480 screen in 10mm thin titanium casing with what looks like a front-facing camera. Yeah, not too shabby at all, especially considering Archos has that interesting media layer running on top of Android already -- let's hope we find out even more soon. Video after the break.

He doesn't say much, except look it's thin and has a big screen. The only extra tidbit is that he says it's coming out in 2010 (but is not more specific than the year).

Same size display as HTC Leo but Archos seems to be bigger -especially the height. 10mm thickness is cool -but I'd rather have a device that has a smaller bezel around all of the screen..

Wow...this is almost what im looking for...it's just a wee bit too big. I swear, Android phones can't get it just right in my opinion. The first few android phones were to small to me(cliq,G1,mytouch etc....) with they're 3-3.2 inch screens and now its too big. Can't they come out with a mid size 3.6 inch or so sleek touch screen device. This device does look awesome though if you can overlook the huge size.

i'm a Windows Mobile guy, but it's nice to see more 1GHz smartphones being released regardless of the OS. Drive those prices down so that we can get them in more devices.

Were they doing this with the new phone? Was it a eurobus, or a greyhound?
