webOS 1.2 now available, brings support for app purchases
The tips are flooding in -- webOS 1.2.0 has just been released, and downloads are starting all over. Obviously the big new features is support for app purchases in the Catalog, but we've heard there are a ton of little fixes and improvements in addition -- we're checking it out now, let us know how it goes for you in comments!
Update: We haven't tested it yet, but the Media Sync section of the release notes doesn't make any mention of restoring iTunes compatibility -- looks like Palm's not going to poke at the USB-IF any more than it has to.

This device just keeps getting better!
BTW, it seems that iTunes sync is a no go this time around. Oh well I don't use iTunes anyway but this may be a dissapiontment to others.
Just downloaded it, seems to run a tad bit smoother & faster, very nice...
I'm happy I can finally turn data services off. It helps when I'm stuck in a large building and it continuously drains my battery while looking for internet all day.
does anybody know when the onscreen keyboard is going to be released ???
email search! The calendar is running faster, the browser has nicer transitions and automatically resizes for typing, improved copy/paste....great stuff. Well done, Palm.
New version of Palm OS emulator for webOS - Classic (including HotSync support!)
OK OK Great. But or is it if we will see the vitual keyboard. Still a pain in the ass when in landscape and using a web page to have to constantly turn and type.
copy and paste from websites work! Don't see paid apps up yet though.
all the palm pre updates are worthless to most people. and this one is no exception. where is the video recorder, multiple SMS, more Apps (only 50 apps so far is not cool), onscreen keyboard, and a browser that u can save files from, or open web pdf docs! Updates that people actually want, not BS security updates. i have decided to cut my losses on this device and filed an insurance saying it was lost. i then sold the brand new one in the box that they shipped me on ebay for $295 free shipping buy it now, and used the proceeds to buy an HTC Snap. for the last 2 weeks i been so happy, snap does everything the pre could not. i love my snap, longest battery lifei have ever seen (9 hours easily by surfing web and texting and talking all day long, compared to the pre's 2.5hrs). and the sad thing is most pre owners are ashamed to admit their iphone killer is the worst phone they ever had, especially after paying $300 for it. i will admit it tho. yes, even my 6 year old RAZR was better than the palm pre.

now now paul, here's the rest of the story. what you didn't know was my palm pre stopped charging all of a sudden about 3 weeks ago. I went to a sprint store and they told me they couldn't repair or replace it because I had a little crack near the charging port, supposedly exposing the motherboard (crack was about the size of pencil-tip). they went on to say there was a little moisture behind the battery cover, on the gold antenna. I told the sprint rep that I have never even removed the cover since I had the phone the day it came out and that I have had the black case-clip from bestbuy on the phone the whole time from day one as well. I then tell him that the crack slowly formed because I was always talking on the phone while at the same time connected to the charger 24/7, in the car or at home, because the battery drains so quickly, which is true.
I told him I take care of all my stuff that I have and never had this problem with any other phone. he proceeds to tell me that again there is nothing they can do and that I have to file an insurance claim and that it will cost me $100. I ask to talk to his manage, which so kindly tells me I a nicer manner the same thing the rep said. At this point I am infuriated because I cannot afford to be 2-3 days without a phone. they tell me sorry but too bad.
As I walk out the sprint store, I look back to see both Sprint guys smiling :) ... I then proceed to turn around, raise my right hand with the palm pre in it, and in a powerful, beautiful, downward motion, we all watch the All-Amazing Palm Pre explode into a million pieces, in front of about 10 sprint customers as well. Great Customer Service I port huh? I pay $7 a month for TEP and and extra $10 a month to bestbuys GSBTP! what a croc of shitaki if u ask me!
So there you have it Paul, I told Asurion Insurance what happen and that I lost my phone because it shattered into a million pieces and they said "no problem, $100 to replace it sir" lol. I must say I am very impressed with Asurions quick and FREE Overnight Shipping though. Great service from Asurion.
The end!
well why didn't you say that?! I would've done the same thing.
then I wouldn't have judged you so harshly.
