We've been furnished with the above page from an O2 in-store catalog detailing the HTC HD2 (aka Leo), which was set for a
UK release on October 12 (though we're hearing that may have slipped to the 26th). Interesting that it's pictured with a stock Windows Mobile 6.5 UI instead of TouchFLO 3D. Is O2 rushing HTC's new hotness out the door in response to
losing its iPhone supremacy? Or did an absent-minded employee just slip out the catalogs ahead of time? We're getting in touch with O2 to find out and will update with more details as we get them. For now, check out the full catalog page after the break.
[Thanks,
Peter W.]
Update: After O2 stonewalled our phone enquiries, we decided to drop by our nearest (which was still annoyingly far away) store to have a look for ourselves. Alas, we only found September issues of the catalog, and the above snapshot is from the October iteration, which sports a big fat Pre promo on the front. So, anyone else seen an advance copy yet?
i wouldn't say it's a slip as the magazine would have been available from tomorrow, most likely including information on the SE Aino and Satio both due for release Oct 5th
Yes, That isnt a home screen! just the program list which is still available whilst using Touch 3D 2.5... at least when using the *ahem* LEO rom on a Touch HD! So its just a picture..nothing more!
"Interesting that it's pictured with a stock Windows Mobile 6.5 UI instead of TouchFLO 3D."
The picture is showing a WinMo 6.5 START MENU. For all we know as soon as you get out of the Start menu, it takes you back to the TouchFlo 3D interface. I wouldn't raise much stink about that until the carrier's official specs come in. Chances are, they're probably showing off the WinMo 6.5 Start menu as 'something different'.
Doesn't the front look a lot like the Verizon-branded whatever-it-is-called? I mean, with the 5 buttons on the front and all?
What timing..... just as my T-Mobile contract comes to an end!
I can confirm that this exists, at least as of yesterday at the O2 store on Western Rd. in Brighton. The previous page deals with a new Samsung phone (Galaxy?), but no dates included for either.
Yep, confirmed here too. Picked up a copy from my local O2 store. They had plenty of them stacked and ready to be picked up.
I asked when can pick one up and was advised some time in October.
Of course, I meant to say, 'O2 UK' and plenty of 'brochures' stacked, not HTC HD2s ... i wish! :-)
I have an testing model of the Leo and I can confirm that the start menu in the touchflo interface is the same as the winmo start menu, but the home screen is modified. The home button takes you to the classic touchflo home screen with the clock, caledar and shorcut keys.
The start menu is then accessed by hitting the good ol' winmo start icon in the top left corner. Friggin' awesome device.
Got the O2 October magazine from the O2 shop near Cannon Street, London (Cheapside?).
Asked the assistant about plans but he had no information apart from a guess that it'll be free on a £45 a month or £75 a month tariff. Ouch.
i work for o2 and can confirm that according to the price tickets we have been sent it will be free on the £45 tariff with 1200 mins, 500 msgs and a free bolt on
Well, well, well, just in time ofr my trip to Jolly ol' England. I think I'll pick one up and bring it home to the USA. Then I'm going to Switch from Sprint after 15 years and go to TMobile.
Anyone see any flaws in my plan?
