Android 1.6 update now official for T-Mobile G1 and myTouch 3G

Donuts for everyone! Well, not everyone -- but as we'd heard, at least some G1 and myTouch 3G owners on T-Mobile USA are now being blessed with an official Android 1.6 build over the air. The carrier says it has "begun delivery," which we take means it's not all happening at once; that's the way the 1.5 rollout was handled, so it really doesn't come as a surprise. Keep checking for that update notification, folks.

I have the white myTouch 3G(Chicago) and I just received the update. Took about 5 min. First impressions: the market looks crisper and cleaner with new colorway and I like how when I hit the search button, it looks through phone contents but of course engadget already told me about that so I wasn't too surprised or blown away :-)

Im here in Los Angeles County CA (south bay) and just got the update 30 mins ago on my Mytouch3g. I must say the phone is not laggy anymore. It responds a lot quicker. Im loving the new market.....

What happens with all your settings, apps and messages when you upgrade?
I don't want to loose everything like I did when I upgraded just after buying the hero.

I got the update 2 days ago. I like the new market look and the new camera but when I hit the search button to google it tells me that the function is not supported for my g1. I'm completely confused. What happened.

Got it over the weekend. New YouTube doesn't work but the market looks pretty. Doesn't really matter. I left tmobile and got me an iPhone. Done with android, friend can't get his g1 to make any sound just vibrate after update. Guess that's what ya get for being an early adopter.

Ok I figured it out, I deleted the original shortcut and just made a new short cut from the main menu :-)

I just swiched from the new my touch to the G1 and I'm hopimg to get som up grades hear soon because right now the G1 prity slow but I like the full keey board feater combined with the touch screen.
