Verizon launching Omnia II later this month -- with WinMo 6.1?
With the Imagio having just launched and the Omnia II coming down the pike, it's easy to be lulled into the false sense of security that Verizon subscribers will soon have their pick of several high-end smartphones running Windows Mobile 6.5 this month. Sure, the Touch Pro2 runs 6.1 for the time being, but the Omnia II must be hitting with 6.5 at launch -- right? Not so fast; WMExperts alleges that when Samsung's latest US-bound smartphone hits later this month, it'll have 6.1 loaded, and although a 6.5 update is eventually planned, it won't come "for a while." That's a huge disappointment if true, and it'll be a tough situation to explain if they've got the Imagio launching on the 6th with 6.5 and the Omnia II comes, say, two weeks later with an operating system nearly two years older (not to say we expect the jump from 6.1 to 6.5 feel like two years' worth of improvement, but still). Heck, we can't believe we're saying this, but we think it might even be worth their while to delay the phone by a few weeks if it meant they'd be able to be on shelves with 6.5 from day one -- but maybe that's why we're writers and not Verizon marketing strategists.

No thanks, ill take mine now. No more waiting please.
With the Omnia now down to $29.99 (on contract), my guess is that this will appear as soon as the originals are gone. (and thus already flashed and packaged with WinMo 6.1).
6.1 isn't two years old.
No way in hell. Seriously, there is no way I'll believe this until I see it.
Releasing this phone with 6.1 after the 6.5 launch and after the i8000 has already been demoed with 6.5 would be utterly ludicrous. Doing that would require an enormous amount of back-end work for support and, quite frankly, piss off a hell of a lot of people that were waiting on this to hit after the 6.5 launch, myself included.
No, no. You're looking at this all wrong. This is perfect. Now, when the 6.5 ROM is released, all our amazing chefs will have the ingredients to make a truly great ROM, without all the VZW bloat and useless Samsung apps. I've got a 6.5 based ROM cooked up by a chef on my Omnia I, and it's in every way better than the stock.
I was hoping this would be released with 6.1! The only potential issue is that VZW takes forever to approve new firmware releases, so it could take a few months. By then, we may see initial word on some Tegra phones, and then the O2 will be obsolete.
So I have been wondering I am about to get a new phone but I'm in a debate should I get the omnia 2 or the htc touch pro 2 I need help please comment on my post I need your help.

A lot of info here on the Omnia II and a some comparisons to the TP2 on the later pages. Your eyes are going to hurt!
I've been waiting for this phone since July.
Then I started reading about the Sholes/Tao and can't quite decide between the two...
It's launching with WM6.1 because their latest Touchwiz I/F isn't written for / compatible with 6.5.
Wrong.

Omnia II, TouchWiz, 6.5.
i was looking on the samsung website and it says that the omnia 2 has the 6.5 windows mobile operating system already loaded.
Samsung has updated its teaser site for the Omnia II (i920), https://www.samsungmobileusa.com/Omnia2PL.aspx. The blacked out graphic of the device now includes a swash of color (at top of the device graphic), which appears to indicate that Verizon's release of Omnia II may be imminent (perhaps to coincide with Thursday's Verizon press conference, http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/Verizon-to-showcase-its-Holiday-line-up-on-November-5th-article-a_7 691.html).
