HTC HD2 to arrive Stateside in early 2010 -- huzzah!
Snap, looks like that painful feeling in our gut was just from that late-night Mickey's sesh after all. HTC's Peter Chou told SlashGear today that the monstrous, amazing HTC HD2 will be coming to the United States of America sometime in Q1 of 2010. That's not too far off, but let's be honest -- it's gonna be a long wait.

Sprint please!
ATT Please.
So, why does anyone care about windows mobile anymore anyway? I thought the reviews were pretty bad so far today of winmob 6.5. Can we see some android lovin' on this kit pretty please?
I don't get all of the hate for winmo. It's a solid OS that's good for work, school, and fun. Don't like something about it? Download a rom that fixes it. Want a new feature? Someone probably has a program that does it. Android has yet to impress me.
i'm with Richard, ok WinMo isn't pretty, we get it. but it's definitely a top OS in terms of functionality and support hands down. i think the issue is people who don't necessarily need smartphones persay coming in and buying smartphones because they are the in thing. WinMo and BB smartphones are the best as far as productivity goes and i'd probably give the edge to WinMo and stand behind that to the end. i don't need a finger friendly facebook app on my phone (which is has anyway), i need a PDA that can get me through the day and WinMo delivers on that.
Because it's the most customizable of all the smartphone cellphone OS. And the reviews you've read are of winmo6.5 without senseUI.
Check out the reviews of sense UI or just the plain old touchflo 3d interface.
WM is a smartphone platform.. But since a smartphone can mean so many things you have to understand where a certain device comes from, than the strong points will be evident..
the blackberry descended from a two way messaging device.. Knowing that fact does it shock you that a bb has some of the best mobile keyboards ever designed and the best email delivery.. Not really.. If these are big features for you get a bb
next we have an iphone that descended from a multimedia player did it not?? So that explains the hi quality media features and easy user friendly design..
Lastly wm was meant to be A POCKET PC.. Like as in a mini computer, since they were developed strictly for business they are the least user friendly.. WM was never intended to be user friendly.. ever.. You have IT guys who figure the technical stuff out for you was the premise.. So Wm lags in finger friendlyness.. What if you need hand writing recognition or you use RDP those small boxes and a stylus suddenly become features you want.. So yea it might lag in ease of use, but multitasking beats everyone but Palm, homescreen beats everyone, and I think development does as well... WM still has more apps than anyone and it has the highest percentage of quality apps if you ask me.. And M$ wholeheartedly supports the dev community, even more than google sometimes so its great.. I mean the wm6.5 that debuted today is old to community we are already on to the next version thats even more finger friendly and polished looking...
So if you want a simpler smartphone dont get any wm.. But i have two computers I need to log into at home to keep things running.. I like to use skyfire, opera mobile, opera mini, and webkit.. Not just one or two.. I like having tv out.. Who else has screens with resolutions as high as wm?? I like being able to try new roms without voiding my warranty.. So if your an iphone kinda guy I perfectly understand.. When I hit the lotto Imma dump my samsung m520 on sero and get an iphone.. But until then I have two phones for cheaper than one iphone (almost cheaper than one palm pre too) and I can do more things with em than things I cant do...
Anyone care to hazard a guess what this is going to price out at once it hits the US? AT&T should be selling the Tilt2 in the next few weeks for about $299 plus a $50 rebate if you sign up for two years worth of service. Wanna bet this will be a minimum of $100 more even with a two yr commitment? I'd love to own one but crap I don't want to spend $400+ for a phone...
BTW teknikkle, that was one of the BEST FREAKING POSTS EVER! I've been a devoted WinMo user for almost ten years now and I bought my first HP Jornada 545 (running Windows CE 3.0!) over a Palm simply because it ran WINDOWS software. People who aren't using a WinMo smartphone already simply won't ever get it. Everyone else in my office uses an iPhone but you should see the crappy, worthless apps they've all downloaded - not a single one of them uses their phone to be more productive! They only use it for fun and games and occasionally music. Hey, if I want an mp3 player then I'll pull out my iPod. I use my phone as my mobile computer, data base, contact manager, email client, etc and there's no way around it - WinMo is aces when it comes to all those things. I've played with my wife's iPhone and sure it's fun to play games on and surf around with but it won't do what I need my phone to do so there's no way I'd own one long term.
I've got a Treo 750 running WinMo 6 Pro and I can't wait to get my hands on 6.5 - if only because I know that will allow me to upgrade to 7 when it's finally released. I've used Symbian and Palm and all the rest of them and I just keep coming back to WinMo. Ask me why and I'll tell you pretty much the same thing teknikkle said: because it works the way I expect it to and I've never been frustrated by compatibility issues with my software. I like the Start menu. I like the Today screen. I like smooth Outlook integration. Hell, I even like the non-capacitive touchscreen. Take away my stylus and I promise you... you won't like me very much.
I'm tired as hell of all the Android/iPhone fanboys who have NEVER owned a WinMo phone before shouting down how terrible they are. Face it, different people have different needs. Don't knock something you have no desire in owning anyway. Personally, I'm creaming just reading about the HD2. Good thing it doesn't come out until next spring, maybe I can save up enough by then to justify buying one.
I love my Touch Pro 2, but this baby might become an early replacement!
Maybe this is why T-Mo and Sprint passed on the TouchDiamond2?
This is my next phone even if I have to switch networks. I have the crippled verizon htc touch pro 1, not very happy with it. Thought about the htc touch pro 2, but waited for news on the leo, since it seems to be more of a major step up specs wise.
TMob is knee deep into Capacitive touch screens and this one will be a VEry Nice addition as they've already committed to bringing a Snapdragon phone to their service. I also think this is why they passed on the Diamond 2.
HOTT Device!!! Lemmie flash Android on it, I'll even deal with the Virtual keyboard for this for a little while. ; D
Love the hardware, but hopefully the Android version of this will follow pretty quickly.
Look up the HTC Dragon (supposed to be the android version of this phone)
Will this be upgradeable to WM7?
damn. i was gonna get the TP2 but now i almost wanna hold out until i get more info on the carrier for this beast. fingers crossed for Verizon.
This better be intended for AT&T, i want it to run on Bell/Telus Rogers HSPA networks. Now lets hope it doesn't sell for anymore than $700 no contract.
although if its T-mobile maybe Wind will have it as a launch device? Now that would be a dream come true! Cheap and away from the big 3.
I kinda think this will end up as an unlocked phone sold in stores, like the Touch Diamond (1) was at Best Buy.
Just a hunch tho.
This device is stunning! Hey AT&T hardware managers, please sketch out all the ways you'd modify the device, set them on your desk, then light them on fire. Please then please stand in the middle of said fire.
i'll jizz in my pants if sprint were to announce this (yeah i went there)
awesome plan+good coverage (in my area)+this beast here= makes one happy camper outta me
My god that phone is sexy
My contract with Sprint ends in March next year so if this phone is out by then, then imma for sure pass up the TP2 to get this sexy beast with either Sprint or Verizon, which ever one gets it. I kinda want it with Sprint cuz I love their unlimited plan and their network is super fast, thats why I havent changed my plan to their unlimited plan yet. But I really want it on Verizon, if only Verizon had a super awesome plan like sprint.
I won't believe the hype on this device until I have it in my hand and can see for myself. I have a sneaking suspicion that this device will be too good to be true. I think consumers are getting their hopes way too high. HTC has let me down before with releasing specs in a device that seems to be the baddest device on the planet until you shell out hundreds of dollars and realize that you should have gone with the Blackberry or iPhone. Once I see it in action for myself, then I will be able to decide. If it lives up to the hype, I may consider replacing my iPhone, but like I said before, I think that will be highly unlikely because I think this device will be a bust. Sorry to be cynical. But my experince with HTC devices has been iffy.
