Second Verizon Android phone to be an HTC, Motorola Sholes makes an appearance
Google and Verizon were awfully coy this morning regarding the upcoming Android devices that'll be launching on Big Red over the next few weeks, but you know, that certainly looks like a Verizon-branded HTC Hero in Eric's hand there, doesn't it? And over on the right, well, that's exactly what the Motorola Sholes looks like, isn't it? Cat's out of the bag, fellas -- might as well push up those launch dates.
P.S.- This also jibes perfectly with that HTC Desire rumor from last month, but we'd bet almost anything the internals are the same as the Hero.
[Thanks, Berry]

Very excited over this. Need more details on the HTC device but hopefully, it will be a fully open Google phone
What we need to know is if it has the same outdated ARM11 CPU as the current versions of the Hero or if it has a more competitive CPU like the Cortex A8 in the 3GS and Pre.
@ Scott (different Scott btw) lol
The Hero doesn't use an Arm Processor. It uses Qualcomm® MSM7200A™, 528 MHz processor (junk!). It's also the same processor that's in Sprint's Hero.

I still like better my European Hero , but at least this is not as obbrobrious as the the other american version of this fantastic little device.
I'm pretty sure that as soon as americans will have the possibility of trying the Hero and its endless store of FREE apps they will begin to ditch their iPhones just like the rest of the worls did a while ago.
I got my beloved Hero in exchange for the iPhone 3GS (which disappointed me) and I never regretted a bit.
I have also an HTC TouchHD and a Nokia N97, but the Hero stole my heart, like no other cell phone before.
D'oh! The Apple app store has more free apps than the Android Market has free and paid COMBINED.
I've been having thoughts of getting rid of my iPhone 3G, and leaving ATT service for a while now, and it seems the time has come....maybe
I've been eying the HTC Hero for a while now, and would definitely jump on this....if it weren't for the Rumors of a new HTC 1ghz snapdragon powered Android phone. Would definitely need to see how much or if Verizon cripples The Hero much when it's released
Just cause it has Sense UI doesn't mean its a HERO, wow great reporting(sarcasm)!!!
I am so excited about this. I've been waiting for Verizon to finally go android! Just wasn't fond of the idea of buying anything motorola..... so I'm glad we'll be seeing something from HTC
The HTC Handset pictured above is the uglyest handset to date & look more like the HTC Tattoo than the Hero & until they come with a faster processor & more RAM in an Android phone, I'll stick with my G1. Aint no point in getting another slow as molasses phone. Its the lipstick on a pig thing.....
@Sarah, you should wait for the reviews and see how the Moto compares to the HTC..... you might be very very disappointed if the Moto is three times better than the HTC, then you might have to change your mind.
The HTC looks more like a TATTOO then a hero.
Yea.. I thought the CDMA Hero was an exclusive to Sprint.. then it was slated to come to Cellular South.. but Yea, that deffinitely looks like the Tattoo (QVGA)
+1 for HTC Tattoo. Not HTC Hero. But it does run Sense UI.

Agreed, this is definitely a Verizon version of the Tattoo......not the Hero.
I bet you Verizon will still manage to ruin any Android "open source" phone that comes to their carrier.
