We're not sure that the keyboard meets the lofty standard set by the CLIQ / DEXT, but arguably the
Moment's single most important feature -- the slide-out QWERTY keyboard -- has decent feel. It's very clicky and requires a surprising amount of pressure to actuate individual keys, but not enough to be frustrating -- it just feels solid. Overall, the phone's a little bulky and has a plastic overtone to it, but fortunately, the screen's at least as good as the G1 and Magic for feel and there's no "give" to speak of; OLED's gorgeous (as always) indoors, but the true test of trying to view this thing in the sunlight might not come until we've had a chance to take delivery of a review unit. The software's essentially stock Android with a few Sprint apps (including Sprint TV) peppered in for good measure. Check out our hands-on gallery, won't you?
What's the resolution on that screen?
What type of screen is it? Multi Touch?
Is it just me or is Sprint KILLING the competion with their handset lineup?!?!
It's not just you.
Hmm, seems like this handset's not getting much attention or buzz. I really like the processor because its the first Android unit to have decent hardware. The stock Droid may not be quite good enough yet, but the form factor seems nice.
Yo Z -- what exactly is this "give" you guys are talking about? This is the second time I've heard it mentioned (can't remember if was you or Josh). At first I thought you meant that it had the feeling of a resistive touch screen where the surface is a little mushy. Or do you mean that the hinges and build quality are sturdy enough that the whole top piece of the phone doesn't move when you press on it? Never felt a capacitive screen (including my G1) have any give to it.
I think they're referring to certain capacitive screens that are such low quality that they feel resistive. Zune HD and iPhone/Touch have the best capacitive screens I've ever used. The G1 and myTouch are really unresponsive and need a little extra pressure for some reason.
It has an optical trackpad?! That's pretty sick. It sucks that it's just the normal stock Android UI but I'm sure you can always just download a theme for it. My contract ends in November now I don't know if I should get the Hero or this!
And no 1.6 on Sprint till next year, why isn't this mentioned? No OTA either.
Does it force increasing ring? Hate that on my other Samsung phones.
Is the screen plastic or glass? How does the hinge feel?
Ah man, this is getting crazy. My AT&T contract expires December 8th. I have no idea what Sprint phone to get now. Pre looks good, but so does the Hero and Pixi, and now this. They should have a 60 test drive policy like GM.
