We checked out Verizon's most unusual
Razzle sourced from
PCD at CTIA this week, and put simply, we're pretty sure there's a reason that this form factor is among the rarest. Twisting the bottom half of the phone to choose between QWERTY and a speaker with music controls just doesn't make a lot of sense unless you're constantly using the phone to play music that you want everyone around you to be able to hear -- and that's assuming you're okay with the sound quality and volume compromises you've got to make with a loudspeaker of this size. What really caught us off guard was the fact that the phone is bent about 15 degrees in the middle only in QWERTY mode; when you switch over to the speaker, it straightens out, though we're not sure what the use case logic behind that is. Anyhow, if you're just looking to own the weirdest phone on the block, the Razzle might just fit the bill -- and at least it won't break the bank.
This is so dumb. They must be in tough shape in the imagination department.
For those people that miss the looks and tinny sound of an old AM transistor radio perhaps? Smart to get this out before the holidays... this way they can possibly garner sales from parents that *think* they are getting their kid a "cool" phone as a gift, because I can't see anyone buying this thing on purpose. Won't be surprised if this thing doesn't have a shelf life even shorter than the Verizon Hub.
How pointless! You can control anything with all those buttons on the keyboard, why rotate?
Wow, this is dumb. They've been sold out of the Touch Pro 2 for weeks, with Gizmodo is saying the TP2 will only be carried for a few more months, and now we see Verizon is coming out with this? How in the world does this get marketed to them?
You can't even talk about the TP2 and this... uh... thing in the same sentence. They are marketed to two entirely different market segments. This is a downscale "feature phone" for those that do nothing more than text and listen to music on their phones. No apps. No real functionality. (And apparently not looking for much in the way of looks).
I am also sort of amazed that the TP2 came and went out of stock so fast, but that really has no bearing on anything else.
That is pretty much the ugliest phone I have ever seen. When i watched the CTIA video of this on youtube, I could not stop laughing. Who ever designed this phone should be fired and never allowed to design another piece of hardware ever again. Unless of course you want a pocket radio from like 1990, then this phone is probably what you're looking for.
