The official line is still that T-Mobile customers affected by
Sidekick amnesia will be given a months' credit on their data plan, but that may not be the end of it (and considering the magnitude of the issue for affected folks, we'd certainly hope not). At this point, they're leaving the door open to more by saying that they're "considering additional measures" to help soothe the souls of those who lost contacts, notes, schedules, apps, and everything else, but exactly what those "measures" are remains to be seen. Free phones? Free service? A gift certificate to a day spa? The full (albeit brief) remarks can be found after the break.
"All impacted Sidekick users will receive credit for one month of Sidekick data service. We recognize the magnitude of this inconvenience. Our primary efforts have been focused on restoring our customers' personal content. We also are considering additional measures for those who have lost your content to help reinforce how valuable you are as a T-Mobile customer."
I've sent Bill Gates a buyitnow Ebay offer for a 10TB back up drive.
HECK YEA!!!!!!! they BETTER give us more than a measley $20 credit! oh and btw, if you havent gone thru data loss and/or data disruption(or if you dont EVEN own a sidekick) then you cant relate to what those who did are going thru. i better get compensation im out 300+ contacts!!! i trusted them b/c the data stored on the server seemed like a reat safety as i had never had a [hone that did that and i only got the sidekick '09 last july. OOPS. bad mistake. Microsoft had well over a year to do maintenance and even prepare for whatever they did on Danger's servers. once again...MS you screwed us all over.
T-Mobile-update us son plz c'mon
If I were a Sidekick user, I would be absolutely livid right now. Probably the only thing that would keep me from marching on the headquarters of anyone involved in this fiasco with a pitchfork and a torch would be a thousand pounds of gold. For reals.
It reads like they send MSFT a request for a blank check and are waiting for their response...
free months data service and a upgrade with 5 months left at discount price. ha great job tmobile.
i think they should waive the early termination fee for those who want to leave and give anyone else a free phone of their choosing. i'm glad i got rid of my 08 sidekick last year and went to att
I agree with this!
Can anyone say, "Class Action Lawsuit"? You just KNOW somebody will try it, justified or not. After all, when has justification had anything to do with filing a law suit?
The publicity black eye is bad enough. T-Mo's lame offer of a month of data credit is an insult. Of COURSE they have to give a months credit for data - because they haven't provided any! What do they intend to offer for the loss of data and time/trouble of the users who lost everything by trusting these tossers?
how about leave w/o ETF
I thought that all the large IT systems use several drives to hold their data so when one fails the others can recreate the data. I think it was a programing issue
MICROSOFT IS HELL FOREVER!!!!!!!!
MICROSOFT IS EVIL
MICROSOFT IS A**HOLE
MICROSOFT IS MAKE MONEY IS BULLSH*T BECAUSE BILL GATE IS A**HOLE BILLION!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I WANT TO BACK TO DANGER SERVER STAY AWAY FROM MICROSOFT!!!!!!!
I think that T-mobile should let people out of their contract. Or to compensate for this outage every sidekick member should get an updated sidekick.
I just bought the most current Sidekick (LX 09). There isn't one that is more up to date, so screw a new Sidekick! I want the $300.00 dollars back it cost for the phone and the upgrade fees AND I want a new phone (of my own choosing) along with a credit for services (which for me, the loss of services really started back in mid September). The $20.00 data credit is a complete insult. Microsoft needs to open their greedy little fists and pay up! I hope there IS a lawsuit. I'm definitely on board with it if so.....$20.00.....give me a damn break!
This is just poor design. T-Mobile should have never agreed to something so vulnerable. The USERS should have never agreed to purchase a completely dumb terminal like that. T-Mobile is responsible for the service and shouldn't pass the buck. Microsoft is completely responsible for Danger. Both of them are at serious fault. But at the same time, ANY user who 100% trusts the cloud to do everything all of the time is putting their own selves at risk.
This royally BLOWS! I lost so much! pictures, dates, event and Dr. Apptment reminders. Need less to say any and all contacts that I cant get back! along with all my internet connections!?!?!?!? Its hard to understand that they put out a notice of the problem when you dont have the internet except for on your PHONE!!!!!!!!!!! SO, how can they say they informed us of a problem, when we can get a message ???????
I would just like a different phone right now, Let T-mobil take the hit and swap me to another phone with the same service and contract!
