Buy this book: Chris Ziegler's 'Palm Pre for Dummies'!
Now look, we're not calling you stupid or anything -- but you don't really know what to do with that phone... do you? Why don't you make things easier on everyone and just pick up this handy tome, written by our in-house Dostoyevsky, Engadget Mobile lead Chris Ziegler. We don't want to ruin anything for you here, but by the time you're done with this sweet piece, you'll be so handy with a Pre, Palm will call you for tech support. Is that overselling it? Nah.

Where's the little "for Dummies" dude?
Or is this a KIRF!?!?!?!?
"Learn to: Make [and] receive ... calls on your Palm Pre" ???
Step 1: Place phone back into box.
Step 2: Return to store.
Step 3: Admit to clerk you are too stupid to own such a powerful piece of hardware, and ask to see the old people phones, with the 3 big buttons.
That really does sum it up doesn't it? If they can't figure out how to "Launch an app on your Pre" wwithout resorting to this book... what are the chances they are going to understand the steps instructing them how?
Seriously. so my 2 year old can run my phone inside and out...if this told you how to do all the homebrew stuff then maybe it'd be worth it, but if you have to read a book for the basics I'm right there with ya, return and get the basic nokia cause it's a brick and simple.
Believe it or not there are a lot of people who buy things they don't know how to use.
needs to cut his nails
I saw that. If you look at his T-Mobile G1 For Dummies, the dude on there also has long nails. what's up with that?
Aren't you required to state that you are going to get paid by amazon when someone buys this now. The FTC just ruled on it...

When are Engadget editors going to wake up and write a Dummies book about something we really need, like the art of yam cultivation?
Yeah, this should be a "How to hack a Palm Pre book". Especially coming from a tech person. Isn't there a user manual included with every Pre Purchase. Didn't Palm already cover this?
Kindle edition available?
Congrat's on another book Chris.
hmm...
nothing wrong with a little blatant self promotion is there?
hmmmm, any run-on sentences with these things -- in it ?
