Nokia N900 can ride the Google Wave
We're not talking about some mobile version here à la iPhone, no sir. MobileDeveloperTV has itself a Maemo-powered Nokia N900, and sure enough, it runs the full version of Google Wave. There looks to be some lag between the keyboard and text box, but if you're hankering to mash up Espoo's latest and greatest with the G man's latest and greatest, there's nothing standing in your way. See for yourself, victorious laughs and all, in the video after the break.

I live in north hollywood the 818,,,?
@ale
Composite out, not HDMI.
@jaakkoteppo
It's not being subsidized (as far as we know) by any carriers, but it's been up for preorder on Nokia's USA site since Sept. 3rd.
Awesome, engadget's comment system is such fail!
actually N900 specs are cool though the motorlla droid still owns the unveiling of all smartphone this november. Also, a rumored native google wave app will be embed shorty after the release. so much for buying an N900 without seeing the real beast

you gotta love boygeniusreport for the quick updates!
That's pretty cool.
Yup the N900 is turning out to be Nokia's best phone in years IMO!
I got an invite to wave the other day, but I don't know a single other person who does. I would love to test it out, but at this point, I cannot. I sent out one of my invites, but it never got there. :-(
If you send me an invite I'll talk to you. Even though you're a Yankees fan (I'm assuming)
I'll trade a google voice for a wave invite?
Already have a voice account :-)
bah! i need a voice account!
I can talk to you too. I want to try this thing SO bad...
All I can think of is "Riiiide the Snaaaake" Thanks Engadget :D
What carrier has the N900?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nokia_N900#Carriers
Coming Soon to a T-Mobile near you (rumor has it TMZ-style)
Thank goodness its coming to T-Mobile, I may get this over a BlackBerry 9700. The price is listed at 650 or so, is that even after a 2 year contract?
no that's with no subsidizing by t-mobile. it will work on t-mobile unlocked.
unless t-mobile decides to adopt it into it's line. which probably won't happen
and it's only $580 on amazon which isn't that much for a 5 meg camera/VGA video recorder, phone, emailer/texter, on the go full web browser, 32 gb (up to 48gb) music and video player (480x800 display), fm transmitter, internet radio, hdmi out, mobile gamer/emulator.... what am I missing here?
My friend works in Maemo/Nokia. He didn't know that N900 will be available in US. My guess is that N900 won't be available any operator in US.
Any carrier using GSM. You get to pick.
If everybody had an N900
Across the U.S.A.
Then everybody'd be surfin'
the Google Californ-i-a Wave
You'd seem 'em using their Flashies
Firefox plug-ins too
With pushy pushy mail to:
Surfin' U.S.A.
talk about a true "jesus phone"........
too bad he didnt know how to activate the selection cursor to highlight
Cowabunga.
Oh tiki, you're a sly devil =)
Get a room already...
it's an awesome phone :D
the resistive screen and stylus look useful for those tiny buttons, it's a good thing they didn't go with capacitive
It's hard to believe the screen is so responsive for a resistive one. Whatever they pulled off, they pulled off well.
Good things happen to those who wait.
@darbear
They worked on it with the 5800's firmware - the screen is much more responsive than it used to be with v31. I guess they took what they learned to the N900.
STOP BEING SURPRISED ABOUT RESISTIVE BEING SENSITIVE. A LOT OF THEM HAVE BEEN LIKE THAT FOR YEARS NOW.
engadget fud....
If I promise to buy an N900 will Engadget give me a Google Wave invite?
https://services.google.com/fb/forms/wavesignup/
ohhh...N900....I love you so much....
Welcome to the Club, brother. Here is your membership card and limited edition N900-shaped matchbox - it is also hot.
thnx brother tikiteko
So nokia thinks it will revolutionize the cell phone industry With google wave. ?
Lol!!!!
Try again,
+245983947596 to Mark.
no need for that lunguage
no need for that language
this isnt even about google wave specifically its about how insane the browser is that it can handle content like that
Dude!
You are a 'tard.
your understanding potential is weak...
unlike N900....which has way more potential than many so called "awesome" smart phones....
mmmm...let me think....mmm...iphone....MAY BE...an example
My comment was nuked for using the language of the snooker hall. Fair enough but trolls like Truth need to be banned on sight.
If only you guys were as quick with the delete button there, hmm?
