LG BL40 review
You know the deal by now: we grab a slab of fresh new hardware, fiddle, play, and tinker with it until exhaustion or boredom is reached, then wax poetic about the whole experience, with a side serving of pictures and videos thrown in. Today's candidate for a grilling is LG's BL40, which is now available in Europe. You'll be familiar with it already from our hands-on look last month, but do join us over at Engadget Mobile where we explore what's under the glossy hood in more detail, and give you a definitive answer on just how useful that elongated screen really is.

Any review/hands-on for N900 ?
It's not out yet. Doing a review on a unfinished firmware would be unfair.
@ibelike:
I don't know about you, but Apple dock connector cables are pretty damn prevalent these days. I'm more likely to find a friend with an iPod cable than a MiniUSB cable on their person.
Yeah, I agree that Apple should have enabled mass storage (like iPods)... but how many people really use their phones as flash drives, anyways? I never did it with my Nokia. It's nice to have the option but c'mon... flash drives are a dime a dozen these days.
LOL if you had that sitting outright in your pocket.
is that an lg chocolate in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?
it's 4 inches long, it's skinny and it loses it's juice fast...reminds me of something else i carry in my pants
LG e-rection BL80 lol
I'll definitely be playing with this asoon as it hits the states. Homey is verizon store manager.
Wow, after reading the replies to the comment above yours, you just sounded really dirty.
Wow, Truth, I thought you were allergic to non-Apple devices....
Uhh its not for verizon
iPhone looks like a fatass next to that thing. Love it.
A tiny screen on a phone that does vastly less than a smartphone?
You forgot to mention making every one reading it envious. (Usually)
Best feature-phone ever?
hardly...
Not even close.
It's a shame Verizon changed their own Chocolate Touch from this beauty.
Yes, because THAT's EXACTLY why I need a phone.
I use my cellphone as my primary music and gaming purposes.
Its a dumphone. Or semi-smartphone. Why would you pay the same monthly costs to Verizon for this when you can get a smartphone that does much more?
...........It's unlocked?
LOL, I don't know wether people downgraded your comment because:
A - You really need to work on your English
or
B - People hate the iPhone on Engadget. The sheer name brings downrankings.
I bet this will be downranked now then. sigh
He was downranked because he's a recurrent and tedious troll.
I got you a new BL40 Chocolate touch phone, but I eated it.
the iphone is also a dumbphone. It's a phone based on apple's philosophy. Make it so idiot proof that it is nigh impossible to damage... Screw customization. iBox you from customizing.
You said the "i word"! You must be downranked Mr.Troll
You'll have to explain to me what you think an actual smart phone is. Calling an iPhone a dumbphone is quite dumb. Does a phone have to have a shitty interface, keyboard that's too small to use, and a terrible browser to be considered a smartphone (ie a blackberry)?
We get it. You hate blackberry. Sheesh *rolls eyes*
I like this phone.
But more like it's CM.

Good job LG.
LMAO I was about to ask if anyone knew what I mean when i said "Chocolate Love"
How does it taste like?
How do I hacked Matrix?
When are you're left hand?
What did I do next Saturday?
oh jimmy calling a phone GAY just so us straight guys wont buy it just plain silly.
rainbow power to you buddy :)
Could someone please extract those icons and make a Winterboard theme with them? The phone might not be what I need, but I MUST HAVE those icons.
He's a troll for sure, but this time I can see his point...
...I love the iPhone/iPod accessory ecosystem. I like being able to plug my iPhone into my car in the morning, and when I come home, and having the controls integrate fully with the car. I like coming home and being able to dock it in my stereo for the evening, and I like being able to dock it in my clock radio at night. Name one other device that allows me to do that (Zune is the closest, but still nowhere near iPhone levels of compatibility).
Of course, it's tough to topple that when Apple holds such a large market share.
@paddy
nope. we like you :D
Mike P.: And I like being able to connect my phone to just any computer/device that has a USB port and use it as removable storage for anything, without needing special software...
How cool is that?
Mike was talking about how the accessories work, and you somehow thought that bringing up one of the iPhone's shortcomings would be a good reply.
I don't have an iPhone but the iPod Touch is the same way, I can connect it to anything, and get some really cool cases for it. Thats not why I bought it but still it's really good to have a product backed up by that kind of accessory power.
If it weren't for my stance on smartphones (NEVER AGAIN) I would really want this... The only features I ever want in a phone these days is a stupendously long battery life and decent audio quality.
If this thing was a PMP with a projector in it or something I would be all over it though, that form factor is dead sexy.
engadget stop trying to force me to read engadget mobile, can you please just consolidate all of this under one site?
what all the people above said. He is a troll that just attacks phone without even knowing them.
Am I weird for liking this phone
@paddyireland
the sheer name often brings downrankings when it is brought up unrelated posts and used to incite flamewars.
also, Truth is a huge troll.
This phone is hot... I love LG!
I call it Chocolate Love.
If it was Android it would be very interesting. With LG's own OS it's useless.
To be honest, I think it looks way to long and inconvenient to comfortably hold in your hand upright, and too long to hold comfortably sideways. Will hold one when/if they get to Australia, might change my opinion then :)
Whoa! This thing is friggin huge! But I bet girls will like it :)
Btw does this thing incorporate vibrating function?
