Samsung Code comes to MetroPCS, Windows Mobile 6.5 decides to stay home

Can you imagine Dell or HP selling a Vista laptop a couple months from now? No, you probably can't -- but we've got the mobile equivalent of that faux-pas going on here with MetroPCS' introduction of the rumored Code from Samsung, a portrait QWERTY device with EV-DO, a 2 megapixel camera, and microSD expansion up to 32GB. To be fair, WinMo 6.5 does far less for Standard than it does for Professional over its 6.1 equivalent, but still, it's just a little awkward for all parties involved. If you can get past that minor oversight, though, check it out now at your local retailer for $299 contract-free.

Awkward? Isn't Verizon still selling the Touch Pro 2 with WinMo 6.5 *Professional*? Now THAT is awkward!

@QUN Just because WinMo 6.5 is not in a league with Android or well... just about anything else, doesn't mean it isn't better than having WinMo 6.1. (Though to keep the price of the device lower, and the fact that it is "Standard Edition" I am not really sure ir really matters... at all).

This is a non-touchscreen device. It's OK to ship with WinMo 6.1 Standard given that 6.5 doesn't bring anything new to the table for non-touchscreen devices. (MyPhone and Marketplace are comming to WinMo 6.1 anyways.)

This phone was supposed to launch on U.S. Cellular a long time ago, but failed testing, and, therefore, will not be launched at all. With that insight, I'm not sure I'd buy it Metro PCS either.
