Historically, AT&T's only allowed its treasured iPhone to be sold directory through its website and company-owned stores plus national partners Best Buy and Walmart, but times... well, they are a changin' -- and we're hearing now that certain authorized resellers will finally get in on the action starting November 1. To be specific, the top 20 agents will be invited to start stocking the various iPhone flavors in-store, which might signal AT&T's interest in keeping up the
huge iPhone-specific numbers it posted for the third quarter this year. Question is, how will this play out when the next model comes out -- will it go back to being a COR exclusive?
[Thanks, Kal]
Sounds interesting, waiting for the moments...

Hell Yeah!! That's coming my way to sell!!
As a former employee of Prime Communications, one of AT&T's top agents, I want to say: It's about time!
Finally it's making it for Indirect Dealers. The only problem is only select Indirect Dealers will have this opportunity to sell the iPhone. It will be based on the company's performance for several months or over all not too sure how long they base it on. The performance consist of Wireline, DSL, U-Verse, DirecTV, Activations, Upgrades, FRPO(Feature Revenue Per Opportunity) all have to meet these criteria and not fall short in order to be approved to sell the Apple iPhone. I work for an Indirect Dealer here in Louisiana and Southern Cross Wireless is the biggest Indirect Dealers in this state. So I hope we do get this approved.
Our store got confirmation on Wednesday. It's about time!! Now it's time to do every thing I can to recoup every dollar that Damn phone has cost me over the last 2.5 years!
LoL I hear ya luckily for me I only started working for indirect dealers since June of 2009. I used to work for AT&T Corporate Stores. I can't wait to rack that $$$$
When my wife got her iPhone we bought it through a 3rd party authorized dealer. This was earlier this year. Actually most of the 3rd party dealers that I have seen in my area (Seattle) have them.
"Top 20 Agents" refers to "size". Has nothing to do with performance. And if you have not been told by now that you are getting it then you are not.
Lastly, for those of you looking to ca$h in, guess again. Apples biggest fear is price erosion. One way to control that is how much profit you make. Plan on making more money on a go phone.
Yes it refers to size and performance also which was told to us by our Indirect Dealer RAE. I'm sure this company will be getting it if not then SOL. As for cashing in the that won't be a problem due to mandatory data of $30 already plus w/e rate plan commission. The overhead cost of the iPhone will almost balance out on the commission the company gets depending on the rate plan plus data features/texting plans. Anyways I just can't wait to have that phone here. I've lost quite a few sales by not having the iPhone 3G/3GS specially the 3G when the damn price dropped to $99 and $49 for a refurbished LMAO.
I have a friend who works for Mobile Communications in FL. He said they will be carrying it but will not get commission for any iPhone sales (he said the owner gave some bs reason). For you guys who are indirect and work on a commission draw, is this legal?
WoW I would tell your friend to leave that Indirect Dealer immediately. It is legal for the owner not to pay you commission as long as he is paying you an hourly wage. I could be wrong but I am almost sure.
@Brian.
you're an idiot sir.
Yes, I’m clearly the idiot. *rolls eyes and laughing*
How much do COR store sales associates get paid for selling the iphone? Our retailer is about to start selling them and are only paying us $1 commision which pisses me off. Im curious to see what corporate store employees make.
Well, I worked for corp as well. One thing you guys need to realize is that Reps in a corp store make next to nothing on Iphone sales. In corp it is EXPECTED for you to sell 30% Iphones ATM. This isn't a big paycheck, it is keeping your job. Now, I am working for an Indirect agent, and as previously stated, the commission will not come from the phone sold but from the mandatory data package. This is a huge plus considering the HUGE drop in PDA sales due to the new mandatory data packages. If a customer MUST pay $30/month for data, why on earth would they won't a device that cheats you out of your money such as ANY other PDA's that lack a TRUE html web browser. Truth is, Iphone is the only phone on the market that is hardly worth the $30 plan as it easily has the best browsing ability. We are getting Iphones just know idea when as of right now. I am excited to again be selling the #1 product in Mobile Sales!
