What is your problem with BlackBerry? Storm may have been buggy out of the box but I know plenty of folks that love their Storm with the latest software. Plus this latest 5.0 upgrade for the Storm is supposed to be awesome. Have you guys tried it?
Also, according to Crackberry, Storm2 falls into the Buy One Get One promo!
Lol it's such a shame that Verizon's turned a cold shoulder to the Storm 2, especially after the big deal they made when the first one came out. But when you think about it, it's pretty much the standard behavior for Verizon when they get something to prop up to the masses to pretty much forget about everything else they offer. When the first one came out, they completely ignored the Samsung Omnia, which got better reviews from just about everyone. Now that they're all about Droid, we'll probably never see a Touch Pro2, Imagio, or Omnia 2 commercial (when is that damned thing coming out?!?!). Truth be told, I think I would rather have a Storm 2 than the Droid; I'm not really into Android, and both my dad and my brother really like their Storms.
I went and played with a storm2 today at a verizon store. Yes it was "better" than the storm1 in terms of speed and typing but it was essentially the same device. I have to admit I wasn't that impressed. There was nothing that screamed "Your storm1 is a piece of **** BUY ME NOW!!!" Lets see what DROID has to offer.
I think that it is kind of sad what happened with the storm. I have had this phone for a while and it has many problems. But on monday I upgraded to BB OS 5.0 and I am blown away. Its like a totally new phone. Its faster, easier to use because it doesnt freeze, and the animations of opening and closing a program rival that of android and iPhone OS. I think its sad because had RIM released the 9530 with this software a year ago, the original storm may have actually been a serious contender and the first true iPhone killer. Last year before it came out the hype was definitely there, but the phone definitely failed to live up to many peoples expectations. Now with the storm2 we actually have a device that could live up to those titles, but the damage is already done.
The Storm II is essentially bugfixes on the Storm. I mean, come on RIM. Still a 480x360 resolution? WVGA is the new standard for top of the line smartphones. If RIM/Verizon really wanted to wow the masses, they should have aimed higher than "what the original Storm should have been."
I can't blame VZW for downplayng the Storm II launch. They hyped the original Storm, and looked like fools when it came out. It was awful at launch (though it has improved since with FW updates - but those took forever to come out)
I'll wait for Snapdragon or Tegra powered devices with WVGA resolution and no click screen, whether Android or WM flavored. My free Omnia will do for now.
I can't really say I'm all too excited about the Storm 2. I'll stop by a store and check it out, but the first Storm really left a bad taste for me regarding touch screen blackberries. AT&T here I come for the Bold 2.

I've never seen a product by a carrier that was supposed to be hyped get so dumped into the toilet. Oh, well RIM. DROID 4ever.
