November 6: stores open at 6AM for DROID, Droid Eris?

So, you're a prospective Moto DROID customer. You've soaked up the review, studied the manual, and even built your own cardboard dock in anticipation of the big November 6 street date. What's next, you ask? Well, set your alarm early -- if the rumors are true, Verizon Wireless will be opening its retail shops at 6:00 AM sharp. Of course, all that is in addition to the Droid Eris, which is rumored to be making its debut on that auspicious date as well. So what's the plan, guys -- wake up early or camp out the night before?

Getting to a VZW store at 6am and having to add a ridiculous Data Plan to a phone with WiFi is not the way I plan on spending next Friday morning. If I get I will be ordering online from the comfort of my own home
Can I do that and port my AT&T number to VZW? I'm under the assumption I need to visit a store for that.
You need to be at a store to port your number. I also recommend going to a store early and getting your information put in so that you don't have to wait next Friday.
I doubt all the stores sell out. I am sure they will ship enough. But you will probably be able to order online prior to the stores having them if they do what they did with the Storm. But then again, you would think if that was the case they would be taking orders online now.
Of course, we could always go order it from Best Buy right now.
Not all the BB stores are honoring the new every 2 discount, just fyi. I tried to pre-order a droid today at the BB near me, and they wouldn't let me use my NE2 discount. :(
I'll probably be ordering it online at 1230am on Friday.
@hitdog - stores in my area have about 20-70 depending on location. Some NYC VzWs have about 100. I wouldn't be too sure about them having enough.
@kmc1828 - Probably because you're getting the instant rebate. I don't believe BB has to honor the NE2.

Any idea if best buy plans on me-tooing the early open? I planned on going over lunch to pick it up, but I'd prefer to go before work so I can lord my new King Nerdship over my coworkers all day.

What's the plan? Pick it up from Best Buy next Friday since I pre-ordered it this evening!
I'm a store manager for an authorized dealer in a mall and there is also a corporate store in here also. I heard they were opening at least an hour early at 9 o'clock, but I haven't heard of anything earlier than that yet. I will also be matching their open time, although I may not be able to order the handset itself until the 6th of November. Hopefully we can order the day before and have them here for the official launch, but that's entirely up to Verizon.
As a side note, the Motorola Droid promotional material arrived yesterday... =)
I work for VZW and my store is getting 240 Droids and 180 Eris, so I doubt we will be selling out.
