P.S.- Just got a tip that Wal-Mart is now selling 'em early too. The DROIDs are loose, people. Gather your valuables.
P.P.S.- Target Mobile Solutions, which operates kiosks in California Target stores, has opened the floodgates too -- but the catch is that you'll be paying $249.99 for a new activation, $50 more than Verizon after rebate. Thanks, Tony! (Update: we're hearing it's back down to $199.87 now -- nice!)

Best Buy (Back Bay, Boston MA) is not selling it until tomorrow, according to the mobile rep there I just talked to.
nah., they are selling now as we speak *nov 6 friday - pacific time-
as for the droid release today, So its judgment day today for Droid, was it? According to Cnet it was a little bit slow nonetheless a good start of droid, other "critiques" says otherwise. But I say, "Hell yeah! droid conquered US for a couple of hours today". We just hope that their ROI is profitable compare to the hunderds of thousand worth of ads they spend during the promotion period and err.. did I say, their impending "lawsuit" with AT&T too?

Same with the Best Buy in Rochester, MN...just talked to the mobile rep there also.
Nice try Nilay called 3 Best Buy's Mobile in my area and 2 Walmart"s, told me flat out no way no how. somebody has some nice connections if they really did get the phone.
Same with Best Buy in Reston VA. The rep there told me that no Best Buy will be selling it early because they will get fined if they do.
Same story in Long Beach, CA. I think Big Red threatened their families - store associate looked scared to even talk about it.
Just called my local store, in salinas, they have 2 available. But they can't upgrade me, but verizon stores can??? I'll be going to verizon tomorrow.

A company wide message was sent out today to not sell the Droid phones before thier release date. So no I cannot sell you a droid today sorry.

Yea, I think I will wait to purchase this phone until Nov. 15th so that Verizon can double the ETF. That way I will feel better as a consumer about the "deal" they are giving me and know they will not be getting "screwed over" if I need to cancel my line.
I'm waiting until black Friday, maybe later.

Hey, I see you are worried about the EFT crap. I just got mine, not sure what I think about it. If I was to sell it, would you be interested in pickin one up? Figure that way you could avoid the EFT. Man, I could not do something like that! It would forever be on my mind that I took part in "ripping off" such an awesome company like Verizon! No thanks, I think I will decline and wait until the 15th to purchase.

What's so great about verizon? I would like to trade my Hero for a Droid but I cant bring myself to leave Sprint for the only company thats worse than ATT when it comes to their plans. Verizon made their smartphone plans barebones just so they could take more of your money. Correct me if im wrong but verizon has plans for normal phones that include 10 faves, unlim texting, and data. Their smartphone plans are voice only with no faves (or at least for the first 2 lower tier plans), texting extra ($20), and data extra ($30). The Droid is nice and verizon has a great network but verizon is over charging compared to everyone else.
you have to have at least 900 minutes on an individual plan or 1400 on a share plan to get the friends and family 5 and 10 (respectively) - just to correct you, you asked.
Well I hope those Mobile employees that made "deals" have another job lined up. Chances are their toast...

I just got a call from the BB where I preordered my Droid trying to set me up for an appointment to get mine. Not a fan of that system, maybe I just want to go in there and buy what I already reserved whenever I want...now I remember why I hate BB. At any rate, he did tell me they have my Droid tonight, but I've asked them before and said it won't be available to buy until tomorrow. Sticklers
The point of making a reservation is so you won't have to wait in line to get it or make other people wait in line. I much prefer that system to the "iWait in line all week long and don't get one because they didn't have enough" method.
The Droid will fail, just as the storm did. Go to Sprint, save $, and get the same if not better service. I really dont care which carrier people go with, just ANYTHING but AT&T....I mean seriously, why anyone who does NOT have an iphone is on AT&T makes no sense!!!
I just got back from my local BB ..... I HELD IT .... i was so nervous and felt so guilty that i told the rep to put it away. ahhhh i should have played with it some more. i duno if i like the fact that the slide keyboard is not spring assisted. kinda wierd .... but i still liked it =)
I went to a couple BB in the area and also Walmart. Neither had it for early sale. But at least I pre-ordered. Will pic up tomorrow!

i'm a best buy mobile rep and i got calls yesterday about selling a day early. Truth be told, i could have sold them, we have them in the store, but i would have lost my job if i did. whoever sold them early could potentially get fired especially since they're cutting down on breaking street dates due to carriers bitching about BBM not following hard street dates.
Seriously, to every guy who thought i was just being coy: fuck off. i'd rather keep my job than listen to you flirt with me while i extend your contract. i's gots bills to pay.
Droid update: I now have 2 droids. Yes count them, 2 droids. I like to call them "Top Half" and "Bottom Half". Yes, my original Droid has broken off into 2 pieces, but fear not fellow Droiders, I like to think of them as Transformers. Each on their own they are not completely useless, but not completely useful, but when they are combined... They create "Mega Droid" capable of more than your average iPhone 3g. Fighting the forces of all that is evil. Apple, AT&T and low ETF. My thine "Mega Droid" go fourth and conquer victoriously.
