T-Mobile launching BlackBerry Bold 9700 on November 16 for $199.99
Anyone looking for the hottest T-Mobile-powered BlackBerry experience that money can buy need only wait a few dozen hours now, because the carrier has just revealed that it'll be launching the latest rendition of the Bold -- the 9700 -- on Monday, November 16 for $200 on contract. Your hard-earned cash reels in T-Mobile's very first 3G BlackBerry underpinned by a 3.2 megapixel camera and 480 x 360 display, beating AT&T's launch by a solid six days. Enjoy, folks.

As a T-Mobile customer, this is the BlackBerry of my dreams! Needless to say - I'm in for one!
On another note, why does good ol' Engadget separate the comments made from the main site (Engadget) and the others (Engadget Mobile, HD, etc)? Meh - probably for good reason...
I see a ghost...
So is AT&T getting the 9700 for sure on the 22nd (a full 6 days after T-Mobile)? Where is the proof (not saying I don't trust Engadget)? I am going crazy having been waiting for this device for the last 2-3 months.
UMA/Wifi calling FTW!
Is that Jesus in the screen?
There is someone in the screen!
Everyone is beating AT&T all they care about is the I-Phone. Im leaving in the spring.
uh.. the image on the screen looks like Jason Voorhees from friday the 13th..
which is my guess all things considered TODAY is friday, November 13th.
...is that jesus in the screen.. LOL if that's your jesus, well.. I'll worship your devil?
LOL I was thinking the same thing myself. Either he has really bad eyes, poor ability to differentiate objects in an image, or just plain worships monstrous murderers wearing masks. Nothing against people worshiping murderers. It's just not my thing. :P
Living in Canada, I'm always so used to our carriers getting devices late. I can't believe Rogers had it a week or so ago.
i have the phone now. i got it early as a tmobile customer!
Hey Alex - is it all its cranked up to be? any regrets? I have the Bold 1 and wondering if its worth the upgrade? Many thanks - T
Are you a Business Customer? You'd have to be... believe me. I tried everything... and the only people who got this early were business customers. T-Mobile has had this shit on lockdown.
It's not all its cranked up to be but it's definitely better than the 8900 I had. Im not a fan of the trackpad. But love the keyboard and version 5.0 software. I actually am not a business customer. I read a thread on crackberry saying that people were getting them early and that you just have to find the right rep. I called 7 times before I got the right one. I did the same thing with my 8900.. Had it a whole month before everyone else did.. Except I called about 20 times for that one... Just have to be persistent!
Jason Vorhees is in the screen and I cannot wait to get this phone! Thank goodness I waited for it :)
Tmo FTW!!!
So 20th Century.
So running background applications (without modification), and having the best push mail out there sucks? This is the equivalent of the iPhone 3G, vs the 3GS. (vs 9000, except size wise)
I happen to love my "So 20th Century" 9000, and so don't millions of others with BlackBerry in general. If everyone just wanted the iPhone, or the latest HTC, how boring would life be? They all push innovations, and all have their place. My BlackBerry does the job right, everyday, and that's what I care about. I don't need to impress anyone with my apps.
Background processes is over rated. I used to use nothing except for BlackBerry devices and hated how my battery took a dive just because jivetalk was running in the background. Or the fact I had to restart it manually when I had to do a battery pull. I have an iPhone now, and I can run as many of those kinds of programs as I want and have them all notify me WITHOUT killing my battery because they aren't running. On a BB if I wanted to run multiple programs I would have to suffer constant battery drain. I wish BB would implement some sort of push system like iPhone has so I can keep jivetalk and other programs out of the background, while still getting messages. And no ... having them send an SMS text message or email is not the same. That just gives me the extra task of having to manually remove email or messages in ADDITION to the chat in the program. And if you get lots of messages ... it is tedious.
The ONLY real advantage of background apps compared to iphone push for everything is the fact on a BB I can listed to Pandora while writing messages.
Woah woah woah. You have some facts wrong. They may not have had it when you have a BB, but RIM has a push API now that is open to developers. They had push before, but only RIM used it for their apps and email. Next, RIM's push is better than apple's push, as you can push data and not just notifications (AFAIK). Push is not a substitute for proper multitasking. Also, with the new moon isotopes, the 9700's battery life is legendary. Crackberry Kevin reported using the device for 24 hours and still having 50% of his battery life left. Legendary.
Your gripes about having to do a battery pull to restart the device have some merit, although newer (and older) devices generally don't suffer from this problem. Really only the storm (with old OS releases), 88xx, 83xx, and 81xx devices require frequent reboots.
P.S. The moon isotopes are a joke, the extended battery life is more likely the result of black magic, similar to that used on the droid.
the blackberry Tour 2 aka Essex should be coming out soon there's a online video review of it http://macspotlight.blogspot.com/2009/11/blackberry-tour-2-aka-essex-gets-video.html
looks like it will have wi-fi and a trackpad
Is that Sal's video review?
Anyhow, this phone is gonna be so sick. I'm really contemplating leaving the Big Red for either T-Mo or AT&T. Just waiting to see how the price is for AT&T.

hi guy's,
Thanx for the valuable information. This was just the thing I was looking for, keep posting. Will be visiting back soon.
So it seems that T-Mobile is using pictures of its Blackberry Curve 8900 to show the new Bold 9700. What's up with that?
It's not a picture of the 8900. I have one in my hand....well, setting next to me anyway. The trackball area is different in the picture above as compared to the 8900 I have.
