Im not a fan of the trackpad. But love the keyboard and version 5.0 software. I actually am not a business customer. I read a thread on crackberry saying that people were getting them early and that you just have to find the right rep. I called 7 times before I got the right one. I did the same thing with my 8900.. Had it a whole month before everyone else did.. Except I called about 20 times for that one... This is the equivalent of the iPhone 3G, vs the 3GS. (vs 9000, except size wise)

I happen to love my "So 20th Century" 9000, and so don't millions of others with BlackBerry in general. If everyone just wanted the iPhone, or the latest HTC, how boring would life be? They all push innovations, and all have their place. I used to use nothing except for BlackBerry devices and hated how my battery took a dive just because jivetalk was running in the background. Or the fact I had to restart it manually when I had to do a battery pull. I have an iPhone now, and I can run as many of those kinds of programs as I want and have them all notify me WITHOUT killing my battery because they aren't running. On a BB if I wanted to run multiple programs I would have to suffer constant battery drain. I wish BB would implement some sort of push system like iPhone has so I can keep jivetalk and other programs out of the background, while still getting messages. And no ... having them send an SMS text message or email is not the same. That just gives me the extra task of having to manually remove email or messages in ADDITION to the chat in the program. And if you get lots of messages ... it is tedious.

The ONLY real advantage of background apps compared to iphone push for everything is the fact on a BB I can listed to Pandora while writing messages.

Chris Cox

Comments on T-Mobile launching BlackBerry Bold 9700 on November 16 for $199.99

Woah woah woah. You have some facts wrong. They may not have had it when you have a BB, but RIM has a push API now that is open to developers. They had push before, but only RIM used it for their apps and email. Next, RIM's push is better than apple's push, as you can push data and not just notifications (AFAIK). Push is not a substitute for proper multitasking. Also, with the new moon isotopes, the 9700's battery life is legendary. Crackberry Kevin reported using the device for 24 hours and still having 50% of his battery life left. Legendary.

Your gripes about having to do a battery pull to restart the device have some merit, although newer (and older) devices generally don't suffer from this problem. Really only the storm (with old OS releases), 88xx, 83xx, and 81xx devices require frequent reboots.

P.S. The moon isotopes are a joke, the extended battery life is more likely the result of black magic, similar to that used on the droid.

codemaker

Comments on T-Mobile launching BlackBerry Bold 9700 on November 16 for $199.99

the blackberry Tour 2 aka Essex should be coming out soon there's a online video review of it http://macspotlight.blogspot.com/2009/11/blackberry-tour-2-aka-essex-gets-video.html

looks like it will have wi-fi and a trackpad

@iphonegs

Comments on T-Mobile launching BlackBerry Bold 9700 on November 16 for $199.99

Is that Sal's video review?

Anyhow, this phone is gonna be so sick.
