AT&T's BlackBerry Bold 9700 starts shipping out to top bananas
Got an AT&T Premier account at your disposal? Does your nine to five require you to wear a suit on every day that ends in "y?" If you're nodding your head and simultaneously thinking about just how tight that top button is around your neck, there's a decent chance that you can get AT&T's version of the BlackBerry Bold 9700 right now. 'Course, those on T-Mobile have already been enjoying the spoils for a few hours now, but judging by the unboxing shots in the read link, that window of US exclusivity looks to be all but shut. So, anyone jabbing the boss for an upgrade?

inB4 the AT&T hate.
AT&T is da devil!
AT&T got the best smarphones
This is the first BB that i'm really interested in and think about trading my iphone for it. I don't know if the BB has a superior 3G chip compared to the iphone 3G, but in my house people with the original Bold get 5 bars of 3G all over my apartment in NYC. While my iphone 3G struggles with 2-3 bars of service and slower 3G in the same place. So I'm really interested in this new smaller lighter Bold 2.
You can't be serious. Do you really want to go back and use trackpad? The trackpad
UI is ancient and too awkward to run modern smartphone apps. If all you do is making
calls you might as well as get a dumb phone for free. You certainly don't need 3G
for email.
@ Macedonia,
Where have you been? Is touch screen some kind of new technology for you? I guess you would not consider buying a Macbook as they still use "ancient" track pads and, OMG, a keyboard. Now, who the hell would ever think a keyboard is more efficient than a touch screen, that is just rubbish. [sarcasm]
Also, what does your IPhone have to do with this thread? I seriously need to make a "Give Me Attention" App for Iphone users so they can finally mind their own business; if they had any that is.
Engadget should make a IPhone user bait thread with "Blackberry, Nokia, and Palm is the Best" as the heading and while all the IPhone users get into each others face like there's no tomorrow, the real threads will be posted while they're not looking.
The BlackBerry design reminds me of the ThinkPad design. Both are kind of boring and always look the same but that is the reason why they look good.
Looks nice. Deciding between this and the Nokia E72.
E72.. accelerometer ..compass..10.2Mbps HSDPA
OMG I'm a BB fan and user but dam, E72 is HOTTTttt!

does anyone else hate the branding carriers put on their phones. i cannot f'g stand it....and whats with the all white keys again? no love for red numbers? thank god for cnn.cn
For the logo on the device a little acetone (AKA finger nail polish remover) will usually wipe any trace of it. A quick download of your favorite theme from Pinstack.com takes care of most of the rest.
Another Centro? When will it end?
Looks pretty nice.... for me to poop on!
Nice. I LOL'd.
Reminded me of Triumph =].
HELLO!
If your top button's tight, you obviously picked the wrong tailor.
or the wrong career
or the wrong neck
or the wrong diet
Got mine today! Switching from 9000 now.
stupid question but ive looked on the internet. if you have a bold 9500 why get the bold 9700.
what is new in this. waht is upgraded ?
Bold keypad with Curve form factor I'm guessing.
Compared with the Bold 9000 it's got twice the application memory (256MB up from 128), a newer OS (5.0 vs 4.6), a better camera (3.2MP up from 2.0), and a slimmer form factor (although I personally prefer the width of the 9000).
Agree, hate the cellular branded phone logo. Intrusive and ugly. But hey anyone can get a non-branded if they don't care about the $200-$300 subsidy.
I am the Boos and I did get mine! Nice little phone. An 8900 on roids. Makes the Curve 2 feel like a toy and my old 9000 fell like a H1 Hummer.
If the at&t logo was burning, I wouldn't even piss on it to put it out.
eh, it's $299.99 on premier. At least when I checked.
No thanks, I'll wait the extra week and pick it up at a standard consumer price.
So, what you're really saying is it still burns when you pee. Interesting.
foiled again! damn you, engadget comment system! That teensy bit of wit was for Mr. Bateman up there.
maybe it would work if you stopped hitting "Undo" next to "replying to", mr. multiple-account-so-you-can-uprank-yourself..................
Ordered it yesterday and talked them down to $199. It was a good day.
i work at an at&t authorized retailer, i won a contest so im getting one for free.......after i wait 3-4 weeks for shipping
Checked Premier, its 299.99 No Commitment pricing, thought about hitting Order Now, looked at my Bold…and thought na maybe I'll wait till 01/13/10. I’ll be eligible then.
No commitment pricing on Premiere is $750. $300 is the 2-year contract price.
i saw the $750 no commitment pricing - is that how much it'll cost in the store at "retail" price? If so... that's crazy! The Bold 9000 wasn't that much.. I don't think....closer to $500 would seem appropriate to me.
I saw the picture and thought I was looking at Nokia E71.
I want this phone so bad!
Well I just ordered mine. I don't have a premier account but I used my sister's school email address to get it ordered. It says it's processing and I should be getting a tracking number soon. We'll see!
