Simple Mobile springs to life with $40 unlimited voice plan?
The once-burgeoning MVNO industry may be down, but it's not out -- apparently -- on news today that newcomer Simple Mobile is planning to offer GSM-based contract-free plans ranging from $40 for unlimited voice to $50 for unlimited voice and text plus a meager 20MB of data per month (you can upgrade to 40MB for another $5 a month). In theory, it sounds brilliant -- all-you-can-eat minutes, no contracts, bring your own phone (if you don't want one of the six snoozers they offer directly) -- but we can't find a way to sign up for the service, so this might devolve into another Zer01-esque debacle unless we actually hear of people using and enjoying it. It's clearly not for data-heavy folks, but if this pans out, we can see it stealing some business from the regional value leaders like Cricket at the very least.

Browsing the Phonescoop comments, it looks like this is a T-Mobile MVNO, using the same voicemail access number, and using identical T&Cs. Will be interesting if it pans out. Wal-Mart is already pushing something similar with a company owned by Tracfone (on Verizon's network, I believe).
Looks like they have a website and a means of signing up.

Who's network are they running on?
If they had unlimited data I probably would sign up today for it.
When I started reading this article I was beginning to wonder if I got the best deal when I rushed out last week to Walmart and got Straight Talk unlimited for $45 a month, but I don't think Simple Mobile compares at $50 for unlimited talk and text plus only 20MB. I mean 20 MB is nothing when you think about it. With Straight Talk I get unlimited web plus unlimited 411 calls too which is a mega bonus. Which network is Simple Mobile running on? Walford asked that question and I'd be interested to know too.
According to Prepaid Reviews, Simple Mobile is one of the rare MVNOs that run on T-Mobile's network.

20 MB data, $5 more for 40MB. No options for unlimited.
I Wonder if they will support Blackberries completely including service books.
Yet another service provider that does not cover my neck of the woods. T-T
I already get unlimited voice, text messaging, and data for $49/month, no contract, with my regional T-Mobile affiliate, i wireless. Works great with my unlocked iPhone!
Never heard of Simple Mobile... seems to me like lots of carpetbaggers will begin crawling out of the woodwork as the Christmas holiday season approaches just to make a quick buck. Problem with these fly-by-night offers of questionable provenance is that you may put up the money and then get stuck with shabby service-network. I'm with Janie. Got myself a StaighTalk this summer after thankfully outliving the dreaded two year shackles plan with Verizon. Don't get me wrong, great company and great service and great at gouging every last penny of their loyal customers. The beauty of it all is that I did my homework. Didn't want another contract 'cause lost work hours and need to stretch my dollar as much as I can. Pay as I go, the way cell phones are run in Europe, seems the most sensible way of controlling my budget. So I found out that StraighTalk is run on the Verizon network, as a sort of sublease of their service which Consumer Reports Magazine has rated has tops, coast to coast, hands down. And, because I don't really need a mobile laptop with me at all times, for which there is the iPhone, I settled on the best possible value for a pre-paid cell. Nobody, not Simple Mobile -whoever they are- nor any other company has come close to the value and service I've had for almost 6 months now, and I'm saving about $100 a month, which is the equivalent of $1,200 a year I can put to a better use. StraighTalk that!
by the end of the year it supose to be unlimited , and they are trying to take out boostmobile , and u can use any unlocked phone , like i phone with data, or any t-mobile phone , and it does run off the t-mobile, and it just launch like a day ago i give it another week and u will be able to buy this product , and i do think they can take boostmobile, and cricket out with this product , plus i should get all my sim cards in by tomm, or friday
