We can understand not investing in a deprecated product, we really can -- but when you consider the fact that Sony Ericsson's
XPERIA X1 is still sold around the world, the fact that its hardware is still thoroughly modern, and the fact that
Windows Mobile 6.5 is a trivial boost over 6.1, there's really no excuse for this. Sony Ericsson has gone ahead and made it official that it won't be providing an official 6.5 upgrade for its uber-pricey fallen smartphone that never quite achieved its seemingly stratospheric potential -- and its 6.5-based
replacement isn't looking much more promising -- so we imagine this is going to spark a voracious run on hackery to get picture-perfect 6.5 builds working on units in the field. Oh, wait,
that already happened! No worries, Sony Ericsson -- looks like we've got this one covered then.
Whoever is running SE mobile division needs to be fired.
I think the whole group needs to fired!
Whatever happen to the OLD SE? they were all bout innovation and taking risks, but risks that made sense! camera on a phone, music on a phone = awesome!
Repeating the same model 20 times with some changes on the casing = Old Motorola steps?
The X1 could`ve been such a good handset, but the marketing was soooo wrong!
6.5 Isn`t that much of a great upgrade tho, if it was 7 we were talking bout, then taht would mean something.
In either case, someone needs to slap some sense into SE in every single market. Cuz lately their decitions make no sense, Satio was amazing ntill you get to the "S60" part. why!!!? Aino not "fully" touch screen is another stupidity!
Hopefully with Rachel SE will pick up and gain back some fans again, I left and moved to HTC.
I am sad by SE decision but understand it as the new Xperia X2 has the same processor and almost the same features. They expect X1 owners to buy the X2 to get 6.5. Instead I will switch brands - probably the HTC HD2 (Leo)
This alone just convinced me not to buy an x10. I don't want to deal with a company that will treat me this way.
I agree with NYC;someone in the company needs to be fired. Updates are ESSENTIAL in keeping not uptodate in this mobile society but keep competitive with the other mobile companies out there. By not updating the mobile OS,means that people are locked into a OS that is not that competitive. This is why most are going with Crackberries and crackphones. I refuse to get a crackphone, and still debating about a Crackberry;won't make the switch because everyone, including brothers and sisters, has a Crackberry. AND THEY CAN'T PUT THE DAMN THING DOWN!!!
