HTC Hero gets firmware update (no, not you, Sprint customers)
The GSM version of the Hero just got hooked up with a new firmware update, version 2.73.771.73 (H3G). We don't know what's in here yet -- HTC hasn't offered up a changelog -- but we're foolishly hopeful that it's something newer than Android 1.5 (emphasis on "foolishly"). Let us know how it goes, folks.

We are not amused - sprint hero owners.
I am foolishly hoping that Sprint will ever get anything newer than 1.5 before I have to replace my Hero with something newer. I see a very frightening trend here...

Foolish engadget. This is simply an update for the HTC Hero which is available in the UK on the Hutchison Three network. It's still Android 1.5
2.73.xxx is the ROM version which brings it in line with the rest of the GSM Hero's out there. The numbers following the ROM version are region and operator codes and don't mean any changes to the ROM itself.
Doesnt it suck that even Canada got the cool Hero, and sprint fucked the desing up for u guyz?
id hate spring.
