If you don't have the good fortune of owning a Windows Mobile 5 or 6.x device that came preinstalled with a replacement UI (like TouchFLO, for instance) and you haven't ponied up for something like SPB Mobile Shell, there's a new kid on the block that might be worth your attention. Ageye's Infinity skin totally revamps WinMo's look and feel, taking it right down the middle of the iPhone-Android divide with features like a slider lock screen, home screen widgets, and a revamped status bar that doesn't look the same as it did in 2003. Ageye's got a long way to go to make this thing usable -- it's being considered an alpha release for the moment -- but it's a project that's probably worth keeping your eye on if you're in the market for some flashy new visuals. A rose, by any other name...
@Sunil Yap but this Rose indeed smells different...
@Boolean22
Ok. How about lipstick on a pig?
@Johnny Rockets
We Shakespear did not tell us anyting about lipstickated pigs, but we can assume they also "just as sweet".
@Sunil
Or, irrespective of how much lipstick we may rub on the pig's mouth, it is NOT going to fly.
Help me understand why other companies seem to know what to do with Winmo to make it nice,(Point ui, Spb mobile, Ageye, etc), but Microsoft themselves, just can't seem to. I think Microsoft should either consult with these companies or something because it is amazing that they can get it and understand, but yet this seems to allude Microsoft every rendition of Winmo.

Your comment is foolish. The Titanium WM 6.5 theme is GREAT. There are a ton of panels built in, and Microsoft have made it pretty simple for us to create our own panels. Could it be better? Yes of course...but ---
But the BEAUTY of windows mobile is that it is very open -- you don't need to "jailbreak" the phone to modify the UI...there are a ton of choices out there. I prefer that kind of environment. Microsoft knows that WM users WANT customization...they don't want to be told what UI to use or what Apps they can and can't run on their phones.
@(Unverified) I completely agree with you.
I am still a loyal WM user and currently use SPB Mobile Shell. It's a wonderful UI. I've tried Android, Palm, and iPhone UIs in the past - and while they're all great - I see no reason to switch.
6.5's Titanium is a great addition. I don't understand why Engadget continues to bash WM with all of the available software and customization features available.
@(Unverified) Indeed. If you like tinkering it's still hard to beat WM as you can pretty much make it do anything you want where as with every other mobile OS you're pretty locked in (Android's getting there, but still has a long way to go IMO; 90% of its attention is still merited more by the fact that it's got Google's name behind it.) With 6.5.3x and any of the top flight skins like Sense, SPB, etc the eye-candy and finger-friendliness of the system is top notch.

i'm not personally a fan of Titanium, but maybe i didn't give it enough of a shot. i just didn't get the "at a glance" information i used to get with 5 and 6 or the Sense UI i use now.
that said, i'm also a faithful WM user. i understand that some people are not as technically inclined as myself and would rather have their phone "just work" with the default settings but that doesn't mean everyone else feels the same way (not implying WM doesn't "just work", cause it does). people keep calling for WinMo to be more like Apple or Android but the fact is, with the OS being as open as it is, it's very easy for anyone who wants to read a couple forum threads to get that functionality from their WinMo phone. i wouldn't want my phone any other way. and sure, something like the iPhone environment where every phone is for the most part the same, you get more apps quicker without having to wait for someone to adapt it to your screen resolution like on WinMo, but that's a sacrifice i can live with. plus WinMo 7's Chasis concept looks to put an end to that anyway.
@(Unverified) I think maybe your foolish to suggest that everyone likes Titanium, because you say it cool. I am not and Iphone fan, I used to be a WM fan, but now I'm leaning more towards Android. The point your missing is Microsoft is not adding the "WoW" factor that they are very well capable of doing. If everything was/is as good as you say they wouldn't be trying to rush out 7 so fast. Obviously they identify with knowing there is a problem. The whole point is behind the front face you still have these boring interfaces, c'mon Microsoft you can do better than that. Have you looked at the zune interface, either on the zune or the pc itself, that's awesome and that's what they are missing. There has got to be a way to bridge older functionality with (for lack of a better word) vanity to appease the masses, both corporate and socialites.
I currently have a Winmo phone, and I have done everything to it. Why do you think the boys over at XDA make ROM, um.....cause the ui is not polished or pretty enough, why do you think SPB mobile shell exist, because the ui is not polished or pretty enough. Microsoft knows this, but fail to make the changes. Multimedia is becoming more of a necessity for these smart phones, and with that come a pretty ui or experience that satisfies all.
This is pretty slick. I wonder if there will eventually be a way to create widgets. That is what I liked so much about HTC's TouchFlo when I was on WinMo, useful information up front and real time (or near real time).
I just wish the writer would realise that the ability to customise the UI is an advantage and not a disadvantage. Personally I like HTC Sense, but others prefer Titanium, SpB Mobile Shell, PointUI or any one of a dozen others. Choice is good.
