4 Times in a month! Gosh were getting spoiled here ;-)
I'm disappointed that you didn't get to my question.
This question has been modified but has mostly kept the wording and all of the spirit of the original.
My G1 has been with me for Year but is seems to be getting long in the tooth (and dead for additional updates). I've been looking at several complementary/replacement devices, pimearly the N900 and the Xperia X10.
When this was first posted I was leaning towards the N900 having actually played with it right around then. But I've been hearing bad things about Maemo 5 being a stepping stone to 6 (I don't like 6 was announced at the Meamo Summit) and given Nokia's somewhat shaky upgrade history with Maemo; I don't want to invest $550 odd dollars into a device and not get much support back. The fine browser, FM transmitter, exceptional Bluetooth support, crazy codecs support and easy native tethering are the things that appeal to me most about this handset.
The X10, on the other hand, seems to media super powers. Something that corrects what I think is Android biggest weakness. Its been announced with 1.6, but word from SE is that an update is coming and with Snapdragon it certainty has the ability to last every bit as long as the DROID and Nexus One. Also it has a FWVGA instead of the WVGA of the other 2 which makes it better for video However it is the most expensive device with expansys pre-ordering for $894.99 and I’m not sure I want to be at the mercy of SE for upgrades beyond the confirmed one to 2.X.
Ultimately I want T-Mobile 3G, a WVGA screen, a 3.5 mm Jack, a 5 mp+ AF/ Flash camera, a top tier browser and DVD quality (WVGA) video recording.
Whats your take on the X10 vs the N900 and those vs anything else you can think of?
Sorry for the length; love the podcast, keep up the good work! -Dpmt
I got to disagree. There is a market for table computers, including the iPad. But the problem is the iPad lacks a tone of functionality. It's just a larger iPhone. They needed to put a full version of OS X on it that is touch screen friendly. I would love to have a tablet that I can use for watching movies, browsing, word processing, etc...they need a full OS on there just like table devices for Windows need a full version of Windows, but skinned for touch screen and finger friendly.
I am going to get a new phone soon and am sick of my WinMo messing up. I asked a while back about the e72 versus e52. There weren't final specs then and it seemed that the 52 wouldn't have feature pack 2. Now it looks like it does and also uses the same battery and noise cancelling, which were 2 other reasons why I was gonna get the e72 instead. But now it looks as thought the only difference is the 5 megapix cam, qwerty and landscape orientation. So I can completely live without a qwerty and the cam isn't that important, but I still can't find a place to buy the e52 with a US warranty.I am concerned about this. What is the deal? And I hope you can give a review on the e72 soon because GSMarena (exclude if you must) seems to write really long overly positive reviews that don't really nitpick, and I would trust what you have to say over that site. A review of the e52 would be better but I am finding enough OK reviews that I have a pretty good idea that any shortcomings of it are from Feature Pack 2 and therefor the problems would be shared with the e72. Hopefully any small problems with Feature Pack 2 are fixed in the firmware updates like the one that I already noticed the e72 got. I am even more interested because of the Ovi Maps free on device storage that's awesome and beats Google hands down. However I am still curious if S60 has the capability to record phone calls, yes it's legal where I live (GA) as long as one party on the call knows it's happening, which would be me. This was a major headache on WinMo but even after it works I still have to do soft resets 3 times a day, and hard resets every 2 months. Anyways my questions never seem to be short and for that I apologize. Love the podcast ya'll and if I missed ya'll talking about this I'm sorry, but I wasn't listening for a while until CES started (again WinMo's fault as it messed up and I lost Kinoma Play which I use to download it) Oops one more thing, how well does the wired remote+headset work for Nokia's I would be using it to advance forward in playlists while running. Thanks again keep up the great work.
