Nokia C5 wastes no time getting FCC blessing
Just days following its announcement, the FCC saw fit to grant Nokia's low-end C5 all the regulatory approval it needs (well, not all, but some) to start hitting shelves stateside. Whether it'll actually be sold in any official capacity in North America is another story altogether -- but the prospect of a sub-$200 unlocked smartphone from any top-tier manufacturer is a difficult one to ignore; in any event, this isn't the model you'll be seeing in American stores since it's quadband GSM with 900 / 2100MHz 3G only. While you wait for manufacturing to ramp up, there's a 91-page manual included with the filing for you to flip through, so you may as well get started.

FCC employees need to wash their hands more often.
To plain!
I completely love how there are 3.2MP cameras on mid-range/ low end phones. I remember the days when 1MP camera were top of the line. And the back of the phone immediately reminded me of the 3650 perhaps because of the colors and lines. Ahh, nostalgia.
@derX
most of the top phones today are 3.2 to 5 mp. This is average for Nokia. How much you wanna bet this takes better pics than a G1 or iPhone?
I'm a little intrested in this phone, however, the battery cover looks a little awkward & Im willing to bet my Nokia 3710 flip that this phone will never make it back to the states...
well, if the FCC approved it, some carrier must have shown interest. Maybe a PAYG service. TMobile or at&t could make alot from this device. Instead of a dumbphone, this could get folks using the web and services.
Nokia makes the best low-end phones in the market.
I can't help but notice vague similarities between this and the 6120c of 2007 vintage. Allow me to geek out a bit here:
Both are 3G candybars running S60 3rd edition, both have numeric keypads, both have 2"-ish screens at 240x320, both have dual cameras with front-facing VGA for video calls. The only real differences are in terms of processor (369 MHz ARM11 v. 600 MHz ARM11), actual screen size (2.0" v. 2.2"), stereo jacks (2.5mm v. 3.5mm), and main camera resolution (2.0 megapixels v. 3.15 megapixels). Oh, and the inclusion of A-GPS. Either way, though, this is clearly a spiritual successor to the 6120c, a phone that served me well for many months... until I lost it.
@RingmasterJ
no. it doesnt have a front facing camera and no it isnt running s60.
@N900androidOS
It does run S60. That's why it's any news at all, given its price point. No front-facing camera, though.
