Sony Ericsson X10 unboxed by -- who else -- Sony Ericsson
Guys, guys, look: unboxing is our job. We know it's fun and we know it brings eyeballs to your site, but we think your customers would be better served if you just concentrated on shipping the mighty X10 rather than teasing them with a product they can't yet have. Apparently, Sony Ericsson just took delivery of its first commercial samples of its inaugural Android device, so to kick off the occasion in style, a couple staffers have unboxed them in glorious high definition for us -- both the white and black versions, mind you -- using none other than their own Vivaz to maximize the meta factor. There's not a lot to the video, really (even the captions are disappointingly accurate), but if you're truly desperate for X10 eye candy as you wait for the retail launch, it's worth a gander. Full video after the break.

Xperia X10 vs Dell Mini 5..? can't wait for that
Okay sony erricson, you've caught my attention.
I've been waiting for this phone... too bad its going to be running on 1.6 not 2.1 :( I guess I'll just settle with it rather than waiting on Nexus One to come to At&t
@Crazyazn
you'll have a better chance getting the Desire (and maybe even Nexus) on AT&T before you'll ever see this phone. Don't get your hopes up on SE...they will find a way to disappoint.
Such a beautiful looking phone... If only it wasn't running 1.6 and on AT&T (after that little fiasco they tried to pull with the Backflop, I don't think I can trust AT&T with an Android phone anymore).
Too little, (WAY) too damn late. This would have been amazing a year ago, but 1.6 when 2.2 or whatever is about to be released... Yeah. Good luck with sales. Hope SE fails for being so ridiculously slow.
I think it's interesting (and somewhat fair) to ridicule SE so much for their X10 release with Android 1.6. I read an interesting post over here http://www.iwantmyonepointsix.com/?p=217&cpage=1#comment-470 that gave a little light for me on the subject. If we really think about how quickly Google is pumping out releases, is it any surprise manufacturers are keeping up at the pace they are? There are new devices, like the Moto Backflip reviewed this week here, that comes with 1.6 yet I saw no scathing reviews by the editors here about its OS version. Development and testing takes time! However, some of us on the Internet seem to forget that. And there is a general distaste for all things SE. :-D
I agree with the post I linked to in that Google needs to find a way to streamline development and communication about Android releases to hardware manufacturers and the public in general.
@doclloyd
My biggest issue isn't just because it's running 1.6, it's because it's $800 and is being marketed as a high-end Android device yet it runs a software version that's not quite up-to-date. Perhaps if they worked more closely with Google and had a better relationship with them (much like HTC) they would be able to release their product with 2.1. Remember, this phone was announced in November, right around the time that the Motorola DROID was released so at the very least 2.0 was out there and available. Now we're seeing HTC (Desire) and Motorola (MOTOROI) able to pimp out 2.x with their custom UI and they're coming out soon. In a side to side comparison, the X10 looks kind of outdated don't you think?
This phone is taking forever to get released it's becoming obsolete with all the new Android goodies coming out.The Supersonic,Incredible,Desire,Nexus1 all have 2.1 out the gate and the large screens so it is more of a novelty now in comparison. So, I have been waiting for this phone too its just not worth the wait anymore there is more options now so When it comes I will get it but for now I will continue to use my Droid Happily.
honestly, im super excited for this phone. first time Canada is probably EVER going to come out ahead. Its being released to rogers in Q2, just buy it outright from up here and unlock it for ATT
do not buy phones from LIBERTY PHONES LIMITED.. they are scammers from NIGERIA..they'll offer you cheap phones..don't get swayed for they'll just EAT your money via western union...
I'm kinda ok with 1.6, but only if SE will offer a 2.1 ROM upgrade in the near future. And support for future updates.
But somehow I think I will be disappointed.
Sony Ericsson have confirmed the X10 will be upgradeable, but have not yet confirmed when, and to which version of Android. The official product blog has some details:

Check out the 5th or 6th paragraph, starting with "Then I introduce the signature applications...".
this phone will have ANDROID 2.1 when it COMES OUT. It will be available as an update via SE Update SITE. I don't know why people don't do extensive searching about the phone they like, yet just read/watch a article and pass judgement. It WILL HAVE ANDROID 2.1 . AGAIN, IT'LL HAVE 2.1. don't complain.
