you'll have a better chance getting the Desire (and maybe even Nexus) on AT&T before you'll ever see this phone. If we really think about how quickly Google is pumping out releases, is it any surprise manufacturers are keeping up at the pace they are? There are new devices, like the Moto Backflip reviewed this week here, that comes with 1.6 yet I saw no scathing reviews by the editors here about its OS version. Development and testing takes time! However, some of us on the Internet seem to forget that. And there is a general distaste for all things SE. :-D

My biggest issue isn't just because it's running 1.6, it's because it's $800 and is being marketed as a high-end Android device yet it runs a software version that's not quite up-to-date. Perhaps if they worked more closely with Google and had a better relationship with them (much like HTC) they would be able to release their product with 2.1. Remember, this phone was announced in November, right around the time that the Motorola DROID was released so at the very least 2.0 was out there and available. Now we're seeing HTC (Desire) and Motorola (MOTOROI) able to pimp out 2.x with their custom UI and they're coming out soon.
