Sprint got punked a bit when Verizon swooped in and
scored mobile programming from the NFL, but they were awfully quick to hit back today with the announcement that they've just added ESPN Mobile TV into the
Sprint TV mix -- granted, they're just playing catch-up to Verizon's
VCAST TV service, but Sprint TV's got considerably wider distribution through the lineup, so this could be perceived as a bigger win. The companies are touting over 100 live events in March and April alone, and more than 800 during 2010 -- enough to ensure that you won't get a thing done as long as you've got your phone (and a spare battery or three) handy. The new channel's available immediately to Sprint TV subscribers.
Sweet. It would have been nice to have the NFL package, but I need the news on all my favorite winter sports; I can watch the 'Skins while at home.
@Sevenmack
ya i was pretty disappointed when i heard Sprint wasn't going to have NFL Mobile anymore, cuz now i can't listen to every Patriots game that isn't on TV, but at least we got ESPN Mobile TV
I guess no one's excited about this... IMO this is more worth while than just having the NFL applications, and the fact that its live is great too... So yeah I like that I have a useful channel in sprint TV now :)
This is great news.
Really, this is just a plug to avoid looking terrible about getting out bid on the NFL package. Given, I wouldn't pay 200M a year for it, but it's a stop-loss to keep people from leaving in droves...
Now, how about that Moment with the DTV chip or the 2.1 update?
